'tis true! (for local files at any rate) Make sure you use it with the
latest T.N. to avoid any problems... The plugin system is slowly getting
there and will hopefully be used for more than just playing different
codecs in the future.

I have only recently discovered the joys of TuneNet, and it's very cool. It would be even cooler if I could work out how to do a shuffle-play of my local playlist...help!

Michael.

Hi dauber,

Long answer via Googgle:

->
Specific Notes: Generally known as a Winamp Playlist file, this format has been adopted by a wide variety of MP3 players.

MIME Type
audio/x-mpegurl
audio/mpeg-url
application/x-winamp-playlist
audio/scpls
audio/x-scpls

File Classification
Winamp
MattBatt iAM-player
Windows Media Player
Musicmatch

Identifying Characters
Hex: 23 45 58 54 4D 33 55 0D 0A
ASCII: #EXTM3U

Program ID

(None or Unknown)

General Notes :

Various programs use this extension; too many to list individually. Take clues from the location of the file as a possible pointer to exactly which program is producing the file. The file's date and time can also help if you know which programs you were running when the file was written.

In Reply to: ANSWER: how do i download mp3 files from m3u files? posted by AeroSoul on June 01, 2001 at 18:28:30:

: Well, if u people had read the above statement you would know. All you have to do is right click on the file you want to download, and click on "Save Target As..." then, when download the small file, open it with a text editor like Notepad, and there you will see the URL of your song (ignore the ending square that might appear). Now here may be the hard part. U need to save that file on your computer. For me all i had to do is create a hyperlink in Frontpage 2000, and then preview it, then rightclick on the file and "Save Target As...". For some people this may be harder, so try using stuff like the www.ANGELFIRE.com web hosting. Just create a link, rightclick and "Save Target As...". More technical way to create a hyperlink (u must use the HTML or Advanced editor, otherwise, DON'T): insert the following HTML code in to your page: Download That's all the code u need, make sure you modify the URL to the url in the m3u file. Also, u can do this in notepad, but when your done, u gotta upload the file to a server and rename the file extension to ".htm". That's it, this may have been hard to understand, but I hope it helped out a few ppl.

@ Bean
I love that TuneNet Docky!

Excellent work as always Bean!

A small request: can you add a button to remove tracks from the playlist? Thanks!

:edit
In case anyone has missed it (a bit of self-promotion here! ), the amipal tunenet Docky is available from:
http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=audio/play/tunenet-docky.lha

You can already do this, go to the edit functions (by clicking the "Right arrow"
button (MENU BUTTON) on the playlist tab), and select "Edit Functions". You
should then get 6 additional buttons to move the items around, delete items
("the X button") and clear the whole playlist.

Hope that helps, or do you mean something else?

Cheers,
Bean.

No problem!

Did you also know that you can use the "menu button" to select "Find Functions"
for the Internet Radio tab?

Also for the Playlist, whilst not in the editing mode, you can sort the
playlist view by clicking on the list headers. If you get an order that you'd
like to make permanent, say a reverse alabetical sort for instance, you can
select the "Re-order Playlist" item from the button menu and your
playlist will be set in that order.

Cheers,
Bean.

The volume of Tunenet is really quiet compared to the same files played with eg. AmigaAmp. Any ideas?
