Software News   Software News : OS4 fix for AmigaAMP WarpUP released..
   posted by Samwel on 27-Feb-2006 10:04:24 (5165 reads)
Andreas Magerl of AmigaFuture said this on the AmigaFuture forum:

"I've recompiled all engines from the new codebase once again after cleaning up the
resource allocation and deallocation routines. There should be no memory leaks anymore
and the "unfreed signals" bug under OS4 should be gone as well."

Get it from AmigaAMP downloads page.

Btw there's also a MorphOS fix at the same location
But that's for PowerUP I think.

EDIT: Could a moderator edit the news item to say that the
actual quote is from the author Thomas Wenzel instead?
It's the actual quote from the AmigaAMP homepage news item
about this release.

This quote is from The official AmigaAmp website and probably just quoted by
Andreas Magerl.

Unless Andreas took over development of AmigaAmp, its news from Thomas Wenzel ;)

(Note, i can't check the AF forum entry right now to verify)

Just downloaded, unpacked and run it from ram (wanted to try it before overwriting earler version) and I still get the "returned with unfreed signals 80000000!"

@The_Editor: Who cares about that if it otherwise works? Those unfreed signals doesn´t affect the OS or other programs badly, right?

@niolator:

As it´s said, that this bug is fixed, it shouldn´t appear anymore.

@all:

btw., the WOS/OS4-Engine isn´t there. It´s the 68K-Engine in the WOS/OS4-archive (same size as the "real" 68K-Engine, but without readme) and this one doesn´t work very well with OS4-JIT-Emu (stuttering playback).

Switching back to old WOS-Engine until the correct archive is ready for download

Totally agree.
Users of WOS engine and the AmigaAmp equalizer under OS4 should revert to previous version of
engine "external" from the 2.16 archive. Version "AmigaAMP external WarpUP engine 2.16"

I have a serious problem. After I downloaded and installed the new engine AmigaAMP does not detect the WarpUP wrapper but starts in 68k-emu. It can not play anything in this mode so I have to choose Mpega.library. There is no WarpUp to choose in the list. How do I solve this?

@Niolator

Read the last two posts please.
There is -no- WOS support in this release.
Replace engine "external" with the version from the 2.16 archive.

@ikir

You running WOS and equalizer under 2.16? Or do you have engine set to mpega?

number6 !!!

Tell ikir he has to reset prefs and take AmigaAMP out of autodetect
and set to mpega.library. Auto Detect refers to both engines, but
this new recompiled external is mpega only!!!

Hi all,

I think the archive is the wrong one. It only has a 68k engine (you all already knew that! )

Anyways, the reason I'm writing this is that AmigaAMP brings up a GR (DSI error) upon being ran here in JIT mode. If I ignore the error, everything works ok. I'm using the WarpUP engine (of course with the memory leak error). Without JIT all is alright (no GR at startup).

Does anyone else has this DSI error problem?

Thanks,
Firbodi

I'm running mpeg4 with 2.16. I had enable the little visual effect spectrum inside the window. As snuffy says i'm going to delete prefs and try again.

WOS/OS4-Archive should be fixed now (Thomas Wenzel wrote on AN).

@firbodi:

Pls have a look at your version of AmigaAMP. I bet you use an older Version, I got the same DSI error and noticed that I was using V2.14
