Software News   Software News : Wookiechat 2.1 now available.
   posted by Mikey_C on 30-Apr-2006 18:06:01 (2339 reads)
Wookiechat, the most updated IRC chat client for AmigaOS, has reached version 2.1

Download Wookiechat 2.1 from Here

"No need to waste time configuring wookiechat, just download and go, within a few clicks, you could be automatically entering Amigaworld's chat channel and chatting to other amigaword members in real-time, practically instantly!"

Read more for update info.

May 1st 2006 - WookieChat 2.1 - I've fixed a serious bug thats existed for a long time without me realising it. A work buffer wasnt the correct size, and memory was getting trashed when a lot of traffic was coming in fast (like when displaying a large MOTD while connecting to a server) but this has now been fixed. Also, other misc crashes have been fixed here and there, the number of users in the channel is now displayed in the window titlebar, the ZiRC network's new usermodes are supported now, and a few other tweaks have been made. (See the changelog.txt in the archive for more details)

And don't forget, if you find the program useful to donate some dosh to the Author.

This helps to keep the author interested in their programme and updating it regularly.

Must be a nice feeling to recieve donations as it's a good endorsement of the authors efforts !!

Nice one James.

Keep up the good work.

Way too easy!! I'm still scratching my head over an IRC client I downloaded to my Windzoe box at work. Wookie chat "just works" since the first time I tried it several versions back.

Wait. . . that's one reason why I use an Amiga!

Thanks jahc!

@jahc

This version has almost doubled in size! Anything new in it that would make
the main executable so big compared to 2.0?
I couldn't see anything like that in the changelog..

I left the debugging symbols in it for useful crashlogs.

If you want to remove them just type in shell "strip wookiechat_os4". It wont make a difference to operation of the program.

@jahc

Thanx for a great IRC client!

I just have one question :
Do anybody else have the same problem with using Amplifier and Wookiechat together, my A1 crashes if I play some Slayradio Live radio with Amplifier if i'm
using Wookichat on Amigaworld.net IRC at the same time?
By the way Amplifier or Wookichat doesn't crash if i'm listening to MP3's only
(and not Shoutcast Radio)

I've never tried this program. I use AMIRC. I think it's about time I tried it.
