Software News   Software News : WookieChat 2.3 released
posted by jahc on 11-Aug-2006 5:25:46 (1999 reads)
WookieChat now has support for different languages, using Amiga's LOCALE system. So far, Mariusz Danilewicz (aka Mandi^ATO) has done a polish catalog, and Tommy Strand (aka Alef) has done a norwegian catalog. There's brief instructions in the Catalogs/ dir on how to create your own catalog for your native language. I'm expecting WookieChat catalogs to be typed up by 3rd parties and uploaded to aminet in the coming weeks/months! If you make one, feel free to email it to me for inclusion with the next release.

Read the changelog.txt for the full list of tweaks and bug fixes. One bugfix in particular has enabled Wookie to run on OS4 beta with the new memory system.

Both OS3.x and OS4 binaries are in the same archive.

What does this program do?

It allows you to connect to Internet Relay Chat networks (IRC!) and chat with other users in a text medium in real-time. Some of the server groups are preconfigured to join an Amiga chat channel upon sucessful connection.

WookieChat requires MUI + the custom classes: betterstring.mcc, nlist.mcc and nlisttree.mcc.

Get it from os4depot as I'm unable to upload files to my web space currently. It should be ready for download soon!

Register at my homepage for $15 usd! Or if you're too poor, dont worry about it because WookieChat is not crippled in any way!

french catalog done already?!! wow you're fast! :) E-mail it to me at james.carroll xnet co nz , and I will include it with wookie 2.3.1

I'm attempting to make DCC stable for OS3 users, and also I'm trying to add the missing resume support for outgoing dcc sends (incoming resume has been working for quite a while now).

The resume is working under OS4, but is currently bringing up a GURU requester (what are those called again?) under OS3. I will investigate further tommorow.

My lunch break is over now and I should go back to work, so I did not had time to test my catalog yet also as I never used WookieChat before (I don't visit IRC anymore since almost 6 years now) I prefer to test it (as you requested in your doc before sending it to you. I think this will be done this week-end (and if the first go stisfy my enough this could even be tomorrow

PS: Even if I don't use WookieChat myself I think that native language programs get wider audience than foreign ones. And i think deserve it.

http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com/wookiechat2_3_1_beta2_12Aug2006.lha

Changes:
- I'm attempting to make DCC stable under OS3
- RESUME support added for outgoing DCC SEND (Incoming RESUME has worked for quite some time, but now it is complete)

Test and let me know how it goes guys.
