hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : DiscreetFX submits proposal to acquire Amiga Inc. in the next 12 months
posted by DiscreetFX on 22-Oct-2006 5:26:59 (18523 reads)
Members of DiscreetFX sent a formel proposal to Amiga Inc. requesting formal validation of the companies value. We are hard at work finishing up our Super Size Me like movie about Trans Fat but the plan is to secure funding to purchase Amiga Inc. and all of it’s IP in the next year. That is our next project after completing the film. It has been on the To-Do list for some time.

This of course depends on if Amiga Inc. wants to sell themselves in the next year and if an agreed upon price can be negotiated. DiscreetFX believes there is tremendous value in the Amiga brand and Amiga OS 4.0. The CEO of DiscreetFX stated “Even though we primarly develop our visual effects software on NewTek video editing solutions for Windows and solutions on Mac OS X the Amiga has always held a special place in my heart since I developed my first product on it. I want to help bring the Amiga back to it’s former glory in new IT markets”. If an agreement can be reached between Amiga Inc. and DiscreetFX the return of Amiga will be amazing.

Best regards

DiscreetFX Team

The value of Amiga is shaky? Or a typo?

I'd be interested to know how DiscreetFX are going to iron out all the legal wrinkles Amiga inc seem to have just now.

I wouldn't touch Amiga unless the value was _much_ lower than last time it was sold. And I'm afraid it is not since Amiga Inc are so certain they are moving in the right direction.

Hopefully the venture capitalist is welcoming any offer to leave Amiga behind and just getting some of his money back.

Also hope the legal situation is clearer if you have inside knowledge than it is to us normal Amigans, cos it also looks like it should scare anyone willing to buy Amiga away.

I wish you good luck as I believe things can only get better.

You're kidding right? What makes you think Amiga Inc is not going to either:

1. Completely ignore you
2. Lie to you about the value hoping you'll pay them several million dollars
3. Lie to you quoting a ludicrously high value (eg 100 million) hoping you'll go away
4. Flat out tell you to go away

I have to admire your cojones, but it would surprise the heck out of me if this worked.

[edit] Hmm, considering that you'd be buying two companies (the one in the USA and the one in India), it may well come to a few million anyway...

@DiscreetFX

If it all turns out to be real (Not your news coverage, but the actual
acquiration of the brands) you can do a "Keep Amiga alive fund!".

I mean you already have a great success with the AmiZilla fund (not the
actual product, though ).

It's healthy and growing, so at last Amiga fans can help keep
Amiga alive .... how does that sound?

Anyway... GOSH

I hope Bill MCEwen is not part of the IP ... in that case nothing would change.

What price concerns ... it's not going to be a bargain I fear. But best luck with it from me...

Best of luck in your quest. But I suspect Amiga Inc will not be playing ball.

/checks calendar .... october 22 ..... no can't be ..... checks again ..... still october ..... damm !! it must be april 1st .....

AInc have had there heads so much in the clouds for so long, that even the idea of talking with them about reasonable terms is just wishful thinking.

I really love the idea of "the name" being in the hands of some more down-to-the-earth guy, but I don't see it happen that way.

Buying AInc's debts and breaking them in the courtrooms would be a far more realistic (and probraly much cheaper) way, but it would probraly take years and another manure-hill of bad PR.

I don't think it's a good idea publicly announcing something atleast until you have gaged a response from Amiga inc.

DiscreetFX:
Hehe!

Will you use up our AmiZilla fund? :P
I think this is cool. I'm sure the Dutch
Netventures wants to lower their loss
after investing in Amiga Inc.
You can always contact them.

And if Amiga Inc would lie and give
a crazy value? Well, contact a firm
that specializes in valuing companies.

It doesn't matter who values Amiga Inc at whatever....

They are a private company.. No Shares anywhere.

If they don't want to sell

guess What .. ?
