hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : RIP Richard Joseph
posted by GrumpyOldMan on 5-Mar-2007 22:23:21 (4460 reads)
Just read this from Wikipedia:

"Richard Joseph was a computer game composer, musician and sound specialist. He has had a career spanning some 20 years starting in the early days of gaming on the C64 and the Amiga and onto succeeding formats through to the present day.

After being diagnosed with lung cancer, he passed away on March 4, 2007."

Requiescat in pace, Richard. Your music will live forever.

Sad news indeed. His music was cherished by many (Defender of the Crown, Cannon Fodder 1/2 are notables that immediately spring to mind).

R.I.P

Very sad. He'll be missed.
I sympathize with his family and friends.

Cannon Fodder?

Oh no!

War will never again be so much fun without him!

May he rest in peace.

With the intro music of Cannon Fodder sure he created something very funny and enjoyable.

This is very sad news.
Looking at the list of his work I have to say that he was a mastermind.
May he rest in peace.

Found this article which has slightly more information and many tributes in the comments.

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=73696

It's nice to see that his music is remembered fondly by so many even if they didn't know it was made by him.

Wow. I didn't realise that all my favourite Amiga game soundtracks were written by the same person. Very, very sad.

Absolutely gutted, an excellent musician on the Amiga and other formats.
R.I.P. Richard.

Sad news indeed.

I never knew his name before now, but he was one of my all-time favourite Amiga composers and inspirations.

My sympathies go out to his family and friends.

Kind regards,

Francis

Here is a little YouTube video that is a nice way for some people to remember Richard by as he does feature quite heavily in it.
