@CygnusEd

Can I give you a suggestion? Why don't you edit the post so that the available packages (AbiWord, etc...) are visible in the post summary on the main page? After all, that is the most important piece of info for most users, IMHO.
In particular I would put all the big apps that can run on it, and the OS4 themes.

BTW, great job!

@sgm

As far as I can see, I cannot edit the post. And it was not my decision,
what's on the main page. It was done by the admin.

AbiWord is not available yet, but this update will be necessary to install it.
I think AbiWord will be released next week (if nothing goes wrong) and a little surprise will be included

@Samwel

eXec installed the enlightenment theme "ebench" and made a snapshot:

http://os4.exec.pl/programy/X11/screenshots/AmigaBlueTabs-GTK2.png

ebench is only in OS3.x style. Now we need a good OS4 enlightenment theme

@Cygnix

AbiWord was a GREAT news!
Any good news too for TheGIMP with multi image type load module?
And maybe Gnumeric (another GREAT tool to have)?

GOOD WORK!

@Tuxedo

Yes, I think AbiWord will be a good thing to have

No progress with Gimp so far - sorry. I was working on other things.
But I will continue soon.

To complete gnome office I want to port Gnumeric and Gnome-DB too.
It's not OpenOffice, but it's better than nothing

This whole package is excellent.

I tried bringing Amaya over with not much hope and it worked first time up.

Exiting, leaves the screen behind, but perhaps I am doing something wrong.

The only improvement I can think of is whether it is possible to run a single application in a X11 window without the desktop at all, or even in a screen without the desktop. It is a minor thing, but as we get more ports I would see this as a simple method of integrating these apps into OS4.

Does anyone know how to get their hands on the ABIWORD port? Or how to set the default directory for apps in X11.

X11 looks like the critical element needed to fill in the gaps to get OS4 a much wider market.

Thank you.

Hmm - this is the first time I've heard about this problem. Did you get a grim?

A server window on the workbench is planned, also some other server improvements. But this will take some time, there are so much things to do...

If you don't like the desktop, you can write your own startup-script. I think
I should provide some alternatives.

Abiword isn't published yet. Hope i can finish it next week.

To launch an applications I always use an amiga script called "Start_xxxx.bat", which is located in the program dir in "Cygnix:Software/xxx". Just add a "cd ..." to the script before the program is called. I think this is the easiest way.

I think the performance of the x-server must be better before we can think about it. But I aggree, it's a nice addon for AmigaOS
