Internet News   Internet News : On-Line Petition - Will you help?
   posted by Mikey_C on 30-Apr-2007 21:13:19 (6759 reads)
Fans of the Amiga platform

I have created an online petition in the hope that it may make Amiga Inc and Hyperion Entertainment see sense and work together rather than fight each other.

The Petition reads:
"We, the undersigned ask that Amiga inc and Hyperion Entertainment to put aside their differences and work together to ensure the success of the Amiga platform for the benefit of all fans of the Amiga operating system"

-----------
url is http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/amiga/index.html

Please help, the larger the voice, the more chance we have of making them see sense. Tell your friends etc.

No, I won't sign it.

If they haven't been able to resolve this issue over the last 4 years, do you really think that a "plea from the community" will suddenly make everyone get the warm fuzzies and put aside their differences?

Nobody seems to get it. We the users are passionate about the Amiga. But this is a business deal gone bad. It has to be handled like a business deal, not two siblings who have to kiss and make up.

This is a waste of time and news space.. let the courts settle it for once and all. Then there will not be one side or the other to stop future advancements.

@nzv58l

Note that although it LOOKS like you have to make a PayPal
contribution, your signature is counted even if you back off
of the contribution page. A little sneaky on the part of
iPetitions, I'd say.

I don't think there's much hope of the petition effecting change,
BUT there's a tiny chance that it will show community solidarity,
and provide impetus for someone who can actually organize
action on the part of ordinary users. Not that I have a clue
what that would be.

I signed.

it may not be enough, but until you try, you cannot say .

Please support us. sign now!

It may not help, but at least SOMEONE is trying to do something positive. What's that old saying, 'It's better to light a single candle than curse the darkness'? It's certainly more productive than flame wars in the forums.

I signed.

I guess I never will give up totally on Amiga, but I am a bit fustrated with lack of communication with the community and then to see one of the few companies that brought anything to the community and the only company to listen to the community slapped around is distressing.

A real Confucius quote is "It is the beautiful bird that gets a cage." It isn't hard to see OS4 as the beautiful bird in all of this mess.

There did seem to be a number of people posting as someone else, though. Posting as prominent Amiga people and making sarcastic comments. Even posting as one dead guy, saying that it killed him when he saw this decision...

Grrr....

Yup, insults are the only way to go, I know I'd be real impressed.....NOT!

Moneys on the line here for both sides, a petition means nothing to them.

Guys, thanks for your support, I too don't know what else to do, hence why I did the petition.

As to the stupid, immature comments, don't worry, with little effort they are removed, however I would appreciate it if people would PM me with the number of a stupid petition signiture.

Done.

In my opinion Hyperion should deliver the AOS 4.0 source code, but not the latest one, to Amiga Inc and stop asking more money. Amiga Inc should drop the lawsuit and finance the AOS 4.1 development by selling the new Amiga system (OS + hardware). Ignoring the importance of further development of AOS 4 would be a major mistake.

What a total waste of time.

Both parties have not worked together or listened to each other for years. Do you really think they'll take any notice of a few signatures? Absolutely not!

Not signed by me.

So, those of us who think Amiga Inc are doing the right thing
in this matter are sitting in a corner, saying nothing?
