I do wish announcements of software updates would actually include a brief description of what the software actually DOES.

I know most people visiting this site are probably pretty savvy with most software available on the Amiga, but I've lost count of the times I've dropped in (yes maybe I need to find me some more encouraging passtime ) and seen an announcement about a piece of software that simply lists the new features without giving a brief background of the software's purpose!

I've read the description, and even though I've used an Amiga since 1987, I still have no idea what AFAOS is or whether it would be of any use to me.

AFAOS = AROS For AmigaOS

It's a set of replacement libraries for Amiga OS from the AROS code.

And cool :) One day I'll get a system up and running and try AFAOS out.. heh

hehe, translated to user friendly language, the news would probably look like this:

The program enables you to use enhanced and updated AROS features on your classic 68k Amiga. In short, AfA_OS speeds up your system, allows you to use images with alpha channel, it display 32bit OS4 icons on your desktop (as well as PNG and DualPNG icons), it speeds up the icon loading 10 times, allows you to use ZUNE (the MUI alternative) and more...

@ BingoX and AmiKit:

Ah, AROS code! Thanks. So I can replace some code in my OS3.9 installs with it. Excellent.

@bernd_afa and @AmiKit

Talking about ZUNE, is there any way of using images ala MUI for the gadgets, arrows, etc.

Every time I try to load a perfectly clean window appears with no images, and when I start SnoopDOS the only missing file it finds is the vapor toolkit library so my question is if there is a way of loading some external image set or they must be present in a certain directory like MUI?

Thanks in advance

Here are also screenshots about new AFA OS features

http://amidevcpp.amiga-world.de/afa_screenshot_upload.php

In short OS3.9 is enhance to get new features by replacing the OS Librarys.OS3.9 libraries are replaced step by step with AROS Code,and with the Goal stay 100 % compatible.

In some years i hope, no AOS is need and all is compatible.

The reason wy not just use AROS fro 68k is AROS is very incomaptible so not much programs run

So I have to put the images in a subdirectory called zune, the images directory you are refering to is the images directory of MUI I supose?

By the way, impresive job with AfA
