Not too much effort imho, and even so, yes indeed. _________________ x86/MorphOS 4.0

Not that much work to slap up such a site with a couple of screenshots from the linux version. Though i do not think it is a hoax. |

| @those who think it's a hoax
If it is, they've been planning it for a while. I started a topic here about youtube videos of Racer on OS4. The frame rate is a little low, as you'd expect from a rough initial port.
Hoax or not, we're going to have to wait and see if it's ever released.

| Looks nice, but I have two questions:
1) 3D acceleration on OS4 is a crapshoot right now, with some cards having excellent support and other none at all, with the balance of supported cards being ones that are hard to find. This game looks like it requires 3D acceleration. 2) The website title is literally "Your Company Name", which makes this looks like something that was thrown together in an afternoon. The hoax theory is still valid IMHO (especially now that OS4 is teetering on the edge of oblivion - announcing a great looking game now would be a nice way to "rub it in" so to speak) |

| Hm. For now, I'm thinking TORCS is more likely to (ever) run within OS4, but only after the OpenGL stuff is usable. _________________ : AmigaOneXE (unmod.) 750FX/512 MB +stuff & AmigaOS 4.(0|1) : A1200/68060&96MB/SCSI/EM1200-Voodoo3 & OS 3.5 : A500/1MB : Pegasos (ff) 512 MB & MorphOS Praise seitan.

You can download the sources for Racer on the Racer hompage (although it's not the current version, but a somewhat older one), so it's not like it's hard to get the sources. How hard a port would be I can't say as I haven't looked at the sources in years (I had some plans for a port myself back in the WarpOS days...).
As the page says: Quote:
06/06/2007 Racer is free... For playing racer in the future, you have to download the content at www.racer.nl and replace the .exe file with the amiga port and some other files |

| I have tried and tested Racer in my Win Xp PeeCee (Athlon TB oc@1.160Mhz, GF3 Ti200 (AGP4x) oc as GF Ti500 and 512 SDram oc@143Mhz). Well, this game knees my computer system down. I hardly make up to 20 fps so I am really curious how will it perform on a low G3 or G4 wth a more weak GFX..
I have played the game just because it got mentioned here and there in amiga forums and it`s creators seem to support OS4 although I don´t even own it! _________________

| I just tried Racer on my 3 year old laptop with a Pentium M 1.8GHz and an ATI Mobility Fire GL T2 (whatever that is)... It does some 120fps+ and even did 30fps+ when XP went nuts and felt like running the CPU at 197MHz (had to reboot to cure it)... |

I believe the video is from the linux or windows version and not the OS4 one. |

| Skepticism? No. We've just been bruned too many times. About the game, I'm in the "lame hoax" camp, too. They announced some zombie game, too, and it never surfaced. Not sure what's so amusing about these hoaxes to make people bother creating fake websites and all... |

| @all
You're all (most of you at least) calling them liars... why? Just let them be! I got a good fealing about this and it's right most of the times. I had it about Hyperion and you know the story of AOS 4.0 and also about parhilia (or how it's spelled). They where a big joke for a while but I felt that they where serious. No, my feeling is worth nothing to you but leave them be because if you're right what hurt does it do you? I would say nothing. If it's true what damage do you cause them?
See the point? |
