News   News : Genesi EFIKA IRC chat
posted by ssolie on 27-Jun-2007 4:02:44 (2840 reads)
There was a chat on June 24 with Genesi's senior management.
A copy is available at this link.

AmigaOS 4.0 fans will note the tidbit about Genesi porting AmigaOS to their EFIKA product:
Quote:
we would never do that without the involvement of Hyperion

Was there any comment from Hyperion about this ?

Edit:
The only *real* statement that I could find in the whole session was:
> The 8641D and the 970MP Projects are currently idle.
Everything else I read, was just giving vague hints to point people in directions where they wanted to think themselves...
Not very productive.

Q: Regarding the statement from january about OS4 on the EFIKA.... It was stated: Genesi has 'announced' it is going to release AmigaOS4 for their EFIKA motherboard as soon as the next release of MorphOS is released.

"We have clearly indicated in this thread, we don't need Hyperion's support to port OS4 to the EFIKA - legally or technically."

Could you please elaborate a bit on that?

A: Porting is one thing. Making a commercial offer is another. We would never do that without the involvement of Hyperion

Good to see they aren't making everyone involved with OS4 sound irrelevant anymore.

Now if only Hyperion could team up with Genesi soon.
Why ? Why not ?

IMHO a rather boring and fruitless IRC interview. Bring back the exciting ACK-chats with lots of bold announcements!

So far the italic announcements have proved more reliable.

Was the chat session BBRV's idea? They seemed very evasive throughout the interview.. "Tell us about MOS 2.0!" no.. "Tell us about EFIKA sales!".. no.. etc? Then he just left alef hanging right at the end with his computer game question.. Oh well, he didnt have to spill his guts, chat sessions are always a bit of fun. Shouldnt be taken tooooo seriously. :)

[19:32:26] Do you have access to MorphOS v2.0? Have to tested it? And if so, could you please tell us what you think of it, say compared to v1.5 what are the major differences you are likely to notice?

[19:32:46] There are many new features.

[19:33:37] It "demos" very well. Many folks have been very impressed - both those familiar with MorphOS and those who are not.

lick&run! this guy knows how to deal with amigans!

He can't say much, it isn't his project.

I think bplan has a pretty much finished design for the Freescale option, and thinks this is a way to go. The realization of this might depend on whatever deal they may cut with Freescale. No luck so far...

We said what we could. What would be better - lies, speculation, distortion, etc.?
