Software News   Software News : OWB Release bonanza! (v1.15)
posted by Raffaele on 1-Mar-2008 17:01:06 (3130 reads)
Joerg strikes again with two releases in quick succession.

As of version 1.14, OWB has gained some scrollbars... Yo, ho, ho!

Read more for the list of changes between v1.14 and v1.15

Quote:

1.15 (1.3.2008)
In 1.14 stdio wasn't disabled for workbench start, fixed.

1.14 (29.2.2008)
Implemented a new memory allocator for OWB.
It's slower and needs more memory than the previous one. 256 MB is probably the minimum for OWB now (it will never need more for most pages since I don't have more RAM in my A1 but more sites work in OWB without crashing now, for example OWB doesn't crash on exit any more, usually even killing the rest of the system, after using http://maps.live.de/
Added scroll bars.
Rebuild with GCC 4.2.3.

Current version is actually 1.15!

Thanks for the update. OWB is going to be the best.

Thanks for the update. Scroll bar sounds great!

However, unfortunately, the automatic update via AmiUpdate stopped working for me. After clicking on update a file OWB_1.15_AU.lha with size of 422 bytes is downloaded, then, I get this error message:

Failed trying to resolve strohmayer.org.nyud.net:8080
You need to enable your internet connection before use.

Any help wil be appreciated.

Thank you,
Firbodi

Well done! Very promising.

Sloooooow, using OS4 classic here. Looking great though.

I still can't use it to post on AW, as I can only preview the post, not submit it.

Keep it up!

Steve

When trying to access

www.ogame.com.pt

I'm unable to select the "universe". On IBrowse, a requester shows up when trying to choose, on OWB nothing happens.
Not sure if it's a bug or just a "as yet absent feature", but I thought I should report.

@Firbodi

Same problem here, according to Joerg, "Looks like one of the CoralCDN proxies is down".

Anyway, I downloaded it and installed it by hand

It's a bug in AmiUpdate, sorry. I'm on the case now

I caught the 1.14 update only a few hours ago!

However, I have one slight problem: AmiUpdate won't autoupdate. It gives the following error:
Quote:

Failed trying to resolve strohmayer.org.nyud.net:8080

You need to enable your internet connection before use.

The strange thing is that IBrowse accepts that URL. Ah well, back to manual updating. I really like AmiUpdate as it saves me having to constantly keep an eye out for updates of everything that I've installed.

Hans

@rigo

I posted my comment before reading yours. Nice to know that you're tracking down the problem.

Joerg, thanks for working on this program. Was using OWB 1.13, now trying out OWB 1.15

I like using OWB for browsing my favourite sites.

[edit ... the following issues have already been described in the thread on the amigans site ...]

I have noticed that OWB seems to hesitate sometimes while I am scrolling down a web page with the scrollwheel on my mouse.

I'm still having problems with writing posts on amiga.org and amigaworld.net.

OK, the problem inside AmiUpdate is now fixed, so hopefully normal service has been resumed :)
