When can we expect an AmigaOS version of this program?

A lot of people put a lot of money into that bounty.

WarpOS apps are difficult to write in comparison to AmigaOS API apps and calling OS functions from them is slow. It makes no sense whatsoever to make a WarpOS version of anything GUI based like this. Yes, the context switches may not really be a problem on PPC native OSes but why would the programmer want to write something disgustingly complex when he can simply make a native program? WarpOS would not magically make MUI4 features work on OS4 etc.

That is not going to happen and for a good reason.

@Slash

Do you seriously think he'd throw away so much money and not do it?

@Zardoz
How much money are we talking about?

From what I have previously read, he really was not at all keen on porting to OS4, and the request for money *almost* sounded like a way to try to stop people asking for an OS4 port. Whether that was because he was trying to get more people to donate to the bounty, or whether he really wasn't that interested, I couldn't say.

@CrisH
IIRC several thousand EUR. (~3000 EUR)

but www.amigabounty.net seems to be undergoing reconstruction.

This was handled by the person known as Troels around here.

Yeah, as if I was waiting for such a port. I remembered having read 2 interviewes in Total Amiga and Amiga Future and as far as I understood, he was not interested at all by Amiga OS 4 and only money would let him consider an OS 4 version.

As I am not very comfortable with this kind of behaviour, I prefer giving my money to other programmers who love writing apps for Amiga OS4.

Now, I'm very happy for the MorphOS community since they now have a nice and very good webbrowser.

For Amiga OS 4, I think we should focus on OWB at the moment (and the forthcoming Ibrowse 3 maybe).

The problem, as such, with OWB is that it is a port of an open source project, and reliant on functions being implemented in the source tree, for those functions to be available on the OS4 version. As I undestand it Joerg is not working on the open source project just porting the existing version to OS4.
Not that that is a criticism, I think OWB is great, and although useful, is nowhere near a finished browser.

Ofcourse he is not interested in os4 as hes not an os4 user. He uses mos so therefore he makes an mos version. so getting a sum of money makes him doing an os4 port. Is there something wrong with this ?

@Kicko: Actually, he wants money to make a port of something without any passion. It's sad but the past showed us that creating something without passion comes to a solution far from expectations.

Well, if it come to Amiga OS 4, cool, but I wouldn't hold my breathe if I were you.

Good job Marcik!

Can't wait to arrive home and test it on my A3000

As it's becoming quite stable and feaure rich when could we expect an OS4 version being released?

OS3/AROS versions would be welcome too!

K-L:

Im not even waiting for it as i follow OWB updates and like it. If and when we got Sputnik for os4 its just positive to have more browsers but until then im fine.
And when talking to passion OWB i believe the developers have passion for :)

Just check AROS developers, bounties everywhere. If its a passion or not i dont know but its made and thats better then not to ;)
