   posted by GameOn on 6-May-2008 12:15:39 (3046 reads)
Tales of Tamar "Enhanced"

Dear friends of the intense and ludicrous role-play game Tales of Tamar,

the journey continues with the next update of Tales of Tamar. This time it
is unfortunately only a small update which is nevertheless less unimportant
since a severe registration error occurred at the last Amiga version.

Many thanks to our testers for all the help and apologies to all the
potential players who tried to register a new empire in the meantime.
With this version one can check for the first time how the dungeons are
realized in ToT, for free!

it's just a copy&paste from here:

http://tamar.4players.de/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=53975#53975:

There's also a discussion about Tales of Tamar (ToT) here at AW:

http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=25948&forum=9

I'd be glad if some of you would join the game I'm desperatly looking for english speaking confederates

and as i already said,

ToT is the last Amiga game, I'm aware of, that is constantly enhanced and, in addition, runs on all Amiga-like operating systems (AOS3.x,WarpOS,AOS4,MorphOS,UAE) and on various hardware specs (from AGA machines to high-end systems, like AmigaOne or Pegasos---and yes, there's also a client for windows and mac)

So, it deserves some attention!

Thanks for the update. Ill see if this one can get me connected ;)

EDIT: I choose easy and anonymouse and choose nickname. it asks if i want additional message/GM/SMS and i choose no.
I press ok on the message for the internet can take some time blabla.
It checks if the playername is active. and then i get this chiefmessage
"Error: no error - do you wish to try again or rather use the tamar-presets.
I choose the presets (cancel) but i always get the same error.

@kicko & tiredOflife

strange, really! Do you have a router with some firewall settings?

EDIT: Have you done a fresh installation? Means, V0.57 and then updated this to R7 of directly V0.57_P2 repectively? i guess, to install the archive V0.57, V0.57_P2 and/or the update R7 over an old installation will NOT work.

The registration works here perfectly fine!

Could you go to "options" -> "email settings" and report me (in a private message?) the settings? You also could change there everything to a private account and then register again.

@Tomas

depends The more the better. With an A1200/030 and some memory (16-32?) it will work. But Tamar is really huge! And if you plan to discover entiry Tamar it would be better to have a more powerful machine. But just give it a try and let us now how fast it is

You start with 7-acres! Here is the atlas of Tamar. Each diamond, you can see correspond to 1 acre!

http://cfreystedt.de/dago/atlas/

You see, Tamar IS huge

regards,

GameOn

@TiredofLife

have you downloaded and installed this?:

http://www.tamar.net/bin/ToT_Amiga_V0.57_P2.lha

Regarding "no emails error". You have to wait a while, so there's enough time for an email to arrive. try again, by just enter the client. it tries to look for emails then (if the registration was sent at least).

I registered in this minute and everything works smoothly here. Exactly in the way kicko described above (just without error).

------------------ Edit:
MOST difficult thing is to find a mediaeval name! Keep in mind that people will call you "Lord " and thus should sound somehow related to this mediaeval, fantasy Game.

Talking of firewall. What ports does the game need open ?.
I use DMZ on my router so every port should be open. But i check anyway.
