Software News : AmigaSYS 4 AGA - for real Amiga 1200/4000 computers is now released! |
posted by Dary on 21-Sep-2008 20:38:59 (4883 reads) |
AmigaSYS 4 for AGA computers is released. A lot of upgrades are included, and I do not mean just program updates, I mean real, evident, noticeable new features, which will heavily modify, improve and make the system more comfortable.
For example, more than 50 supported RAM/CPU cards, boot screen for every cpu and machine type, nice boot music, fully menu-controlled fast buttons, and full 68020-68060 optimized settings. The installer descriptions are expanded. If you used the former AmigaSYS AGA, then it is still worth it to look into the new descriptions. (Read more)
Content: AmigaSYS AGA system requirements, Supported OS list, Supported RAM and Turbo cards, Capabilities of the system, Installing (Windows/WinUAE, E-UAE/Linux, Without emulator on Linux, real Amiga), Download (HDF, LHA, Amiga compatible ISO image), Pictures.
Use the Ctrl+Refresh if you think the old site loaded instead of the new.

| That's absolutely brilliant. Especially as I'm about to rebuild my A1200 into a Z4 tower with a Mediator board.
My old hard drive failed and I need to start from scratch, so this has come at just the right time.
Thanks, and keep up the good work! _________________ Fred Booth ======================================== A500, A600, A1200 c/w Mediator and 030 AmigaOne and OS4.1 Mac LCII, G4 Powermac running OSX + Amigakit and MorphOS 3.0 Dell Mini 10 Netbook running IcAros and AmigaForever+Amikit+AmigaSys 2006 Macb

| Right, hold the dancing bananas, but I'm going to try copying over the .lha file over on a PCMCI flash card, and decompressing it straight onto my sys: folder on my A1200, I mean, what's the worse that could happen?
Cough-cough,
Also not quite sure how I managed it, but created the first Amigasys AGA install on a AOS4.1 setup!
Oopsie!
edited to add, the extracting the files worked fine, except I had to rename the workbench: partition to system:
But other than that, dead easy.
So get out the dancing banananananananas!
How did I find it? Not unlike the WinUAE version, like living in heaven, but somebody elses idea of heaven, if you know what I mean. BTW would it be possible to put at least one PD/freewear game in the speccy/gameboy emulators? Just to see how fast they work? Last edited by Stephen_Robinson on 22-Sep-2008 at 08:05 PM.

| Well done everyone for all the hard work and effort that has gone into this product.
Setting up Workbench from scratch can be very time consuming and it's always a challenge to find various installation discs!
AmigaSYS installation was very smooth once I had formatted DH0: , renamed it system, unarchived the amigaSYS files and rebooted.
Initially I though this would be based on Workbench 3.0/3.1 but took a chance and installed WB 3.9 hoping it would not upset the AmigaSYS install. To my surprise on reboot AmigaSYS detected the OS upgrade and made the appropriate adjustments !!
It's finishing touches like this which demonstate what a well thought out product this is. _________________ Member of Midland Amiga Group (MAG)

| Great product, though I've had no luck installing it this time round.
I have formatted a partition, made it bootable in HDTOOLBOX, unpacked the archive and renamed the partition to 'SYSTEM'. When I reset and boot from the partition, the drive light flickers for a while, then I'm left with a DOS prompt.
Ah well. Haven't really had time tonight, so will try again when I have more time.
Will be good to test out

I read something similar once...
If he would not succeed possibly looks up.
Like that as if would not run the Startup-Sequence.
and if it is Amiga Early menu you assign partition it can be booted? _________________ AmigaSYS is a fully pre-configured AmigaOS system. Support AmigaOS 3.0/3.1/3.9. Platforms: Amiga computers and emulators. http://www.amigasys.com

Still no joy, here
I can't think what I may have done wrong... it just doesn't get as far as the installation when I try to boot from the partition.
Probably my night shift head causing me problems.
