Software News   Software News : CodeBench Beta Release

Available for immediate download

CodeBench 0.8 Beta

Due to a lack of internal testing, it is time to release CodeBench out to a wider audience.

Download it now from here

CodeBench is a DPM (Development Project Management) system written from scratch, and is available to all users of AmigaOS 4.1. The "SE" version available for free download is released to complement the recent SDK release.

It allows easy project creation and management features, and provides simple one step editing and compiling from one interface.

Also available is a new support Forum where users may collect to get information and help regarding this software.

Extensive documentation is available both from the installer and from within CodeBench itself, and you are highly recommended to read through it before starting. Besides giving indepth descriptions of the functionality of the software, it also includes some tips and tricks on getting the most from it.

Whilst this software has been in development for some time, it is publically released as a beta version, so issues with the software are likely. You should use the software support forum to report such issues.

Enjoy!

Great news, this type of software is one of the most needed on OS4. I'll try it tonight!

"Available to OS4.1". Noooo.... Does this exclude us poor OS4.0 users?
Please tell me it isn't so...

It's good to see this finally available. I'll try it out when I have time.

Good to see it finally becoming public!

Some screenshots would be nice for those who don't have the chance to try it, but would like to see what it looks like, what it can do...

@BrandonLee

Yes, I'm afraid it is available only to users of 4.1 onwards due to the extensive work done in the BOOPSI classes.

Time to upgrade.

Sounds good, I dont have a SAM (yet), so I give my input.

However, if other software can work with Codebench :

we could apply filters / parsers eg

FLEX, AWK script engines for converting languages
Spellcheck
C code formatting, casing, correcting, validation
Memory leak detection etc
C class / functions code > gfx diagrams (Graphviz) -> PDF docs
It would be great if Codebench could add user own extensions

EG syntax availability / detection / spell correction for other libraries & dependancies.

/syntax checkers etc, it would make CodeBench very useful.

especially for translating languages :

Visual Basic - PureBasic - Blitzbasic
ASM - C - E - Java ?

Win32 API - AmigaOS API
Direct X - OpenGL

i could go on, but i had better stop

great work, we need a proper IDE thats portable.
