Internet News   Internet News : 10th Anniversary - New Website Launched
   posted by Rogue on 25-Feb-2009 13:09:33 (7707 reads)
Antwerp, Belgium – February 25, 2009.

Hyperion Entertainment is pleased to unveil its entirely reworked website which offers registered users substantially more functionality and easy of use.

Registered users are invited to re-register their software products in order to obtain access to the download section.

The relaunch of Hyperion’s website coincides exactly with the company’s 10th anniversary.

During the past 10 years Hyperion has been engaged in software development for platforms as diverse as Linux, MacOS 9/X and AmigaOS bringing top-notch entertainment software to these alternative operating systems.

Other projects the company was involved in over the years include writing a software rendering engine for Monolith (developers of Shogo and N.O.L.F.), adapting the U-Boot firmware for use on the AmigaOne desktop system, assisting Smiths Aerospace (now a division of GE Aviation) with expertise in low-level 3D graphics programming and providing IT consultancy services to Belgium’s leading mobile phone operator.

Since November of 2001 Hyperion has been actively developing AmigaOS 4.x, an almost complete rewrite for modern times of the legendary Amiga operating system which launched the multi-media computing revolution in 1987. Originally developed by Commodore for its line of Amiga computers, AmigaOS 4.x now runs on several PowerPC based hardware platforms including original Amiga’s with PowerPC accelerator cards and the stand-alone AmigaOne, SAM and Pegasos II platforms.

Hyperion Entertainment wishes to thank its loyal customer-base for its continued support as it embarks on its most ambitious project to date – watch this space for further information.

Congrats with the new site, which looks nice and polished.....zzz

However I do miss the old site's nice graphics, which had more Amiga spirit with it's beautiful colors than this new one. Actually I think AmigaOS should be graphically much more in focus on the frontpage. I think that the owners of an OS which slogan is "Remember when computing was fun" should have a much more interesting site. Perhaps Hyperion should hire a top notch Joomla knowledgable graphician, and make a GREAT looking website which somewhat resembles the look and feel of OS4's workbench, with flying colors and ATTRACTIVE and FUN Amiga SUPER OS graphics.

By the way, where has the old OS4 site gone? - not that it could do as a frontpage for OS4, but it's still very informative.

Anyway thumbs up for the big work (I know Joomla is hard, and perhaps even harder to modify) - i like the clean and crisp look, but just miss the AMIGA...BACK FOR THE FUTURE approach!

Looks very nice, clean and professional! Well done.

One thing though. I've just registered my new username, and after clicking on the account activation link in the email, you're directed back to the Hyperion website, but instead of your username being placed automatically in the 'username' box, it puts your email address instead, which of course doesn't work.

Small bug I guess. Not too trivial, but it's there all the same

@Hypex
CSS are one of the best thing happened in web world. If Hyperion did a website without them i would consider it a crappy one. If you have OS4 just download OWB it runs like a charm.

I didn't move the files over. I just finished the whole shebang this morning, so I just didn't get around to it. Going to do that in the coming days.

Yes. it will. Just wanted to have the site operation for the 10th, we're going to add the other content gradually now ;)

@Rogue

I like the new website. Re-registered my account and software products just fine using OWB 3.7.

The instructions were very easy to follow.

Thanks,

No it isn't. The layouts always look crap when using CSS.

Not all browsers support CSS.

Also it is so eay to write web [pages that don't use nor need CSS.

I really hate sites that use it, they look a mess.

I guess if OWB gets a MUI interface I may start using that more but for now IB is still the best option - on well written sites that work on ANY Browser.

A single rant about the topic isn't enough for you, is it?

This has to be the single most uninformed statement I have heard. Not even worth trying to argue against, because it is so blatantly obviously zealotry.
