A release of Sodipodi 0.34 is now available on OS4-Depot. Sodipodi is a vector
illustrator program, which can load and save vector graphic files in SVG format.

Sodipodi features:


  • Extensive set of features for editing vector images.
  • Drawing modes:

    • rectangle
    • ellipse
    • star
    • spiral
    • pen
    • pencil
    • calligraphy
    • text

  • Gradients (linear and radial).
  • Intuitive GUI
  • High performance
  • Printer support.
  • Can export project into a PNG file. Additionally can export project to Postscript and PDF format using the print requester.
  • XML editor to edit the SVG data directly.

How does it compare to Gimp or Photogenics for instance?

Not at all really, Sodipodi is a vector drawing/illustration package so really it should be compared to something like Adobe Illustrator. It's pretty good too although is surpassed now by the spin-off project Inkscape.
Anyway, this is nice news
