Software News   Software News : MCC TextEditor 15.30
   posted by zerohero on 30-Aug-2009 15:01:41 (2996 reads)
TextEditor.mcc is a multiline string gadget which offers most of the common features you can find in a typical text editor, but embedded in a MUI custom class. It is used by a wide range of well-known MUI based applications like YAM or SimpleMail as the main text editing gadget. Its main features are:

- Text can be colored (limited syntax highlighting)
- WYSIWYG for bold, italic and underline soft styles
- Multi-level undo & redo
- Lines with different alignments (left, right, centered)
- Ability to insert thick or thin separators with an optional title
- Easy marking either using the mouse or keyboard
- Full clipboard support, offering very fast cut & paste routines
- Light text highlighting for e-mail based on an opening ">" character
- Support for external spellcheckers, including type'n'spell and word guessing
- Configurable keys, colors, cursor types, blink speed, and much more
- Ability to have a bitmap as a background
- Support for proportional fonts with floating word wrap, as well as antialiased fonts
- Pixel smooth scrolling
- AREXX interface for scripted programming

TextEditor is available for AmigaOS3, AmigaOS4, MorphOS and AROS.

I hope the crash in yam is gone now. With previous 15.29 yam could crash while writing. Thanks for another update. Installed

Hi,

Ref MCC TextEditor 15.30

On my A4K/060 Cyberstorm/SCSI OS3.9 BB1 system this locks up in YAM even after a small bit of text editting.

So I have had to drop back to ver 15.28 which worked fine.

Bad lockups in YAM with both 15.29 and 15.30. I'm back on 15.28 now. Seems to work fine.

I see no reason for upgrading to 15.29 or 15.30. They offer little new to the users and they are just bugged.

I guess it has a test suit that is run on it. However, perhaps it should be expanded a little... Thanks for working on it though

Bugs are fixed, you can compile a proper version downloading sources from svn (using subversion from shell) and having SDK installed...

The update seems to cause memory corruption issues and causes YAM to crash on a regular basis now.

@ShInKurO

Bugs are not fixed yet. With the latest fixes applied it still crashes in MorphOS. I have tried to track it down but this bug is PITA.

Has anyone written a guide on setting up the spell checker feature? I've never quite got my head around it.

@itix

In the the SplitLine() routine. Offset 0x54ec. Has anyone submuitted a crashlog yet? Do they look at os4depot.net?

It's really annoying me. I had to retype an email four times tonight! Two times I lost what YAM had saved itself!

I can't press return anymore without fearing what will happen next. First it just crashed, but even catching it I lost everything, might as well reset cause trying to recover from it just freezes my system.

Now it doesn't crash but freezes my system! Honestly, this is such a popular used editor, how could such blanant bugs pass the propgrammers by?
