Software News   Software News : "The Vague" Amiga diskmag: fixed version of issue #1 and a new website.
   posted by kas1e on 11-Nov-2009 19:19:28 (2611 reads)

Diskmag about demoscene and coding on/for Amiga and Amiga-like computers.

"The Vague" is the first multiplatform Warp3D-based Amiga diskmag ever!

Features:

- Warp3D version: smooth high-resolution true-color graphics with alpha-blending
and animation also on classic 68k Amigas with 68040+ CPU and Warp3D-supported
graphic cards.

- AGA/RTG version for 68k Amigas without graphic card (limitations: no pixel
scrolling, no animation, 8-bit graphics dithered with the best algorithm
possible).

- Online HTML version for those that do not have an Amiga or does not want
to set up an emulator

- Real time mixing of sound effects and music through AHI, like in modern
diskmags (music only on classic Amigas, played by direct access to hardware).

- Amiga-only articles about coding and demoscene on all Amiga platforms.

- Support for all Amiga platforms (AmigaOS3.x, AmigaOS4.x, MorphOS and AROS).

- New and modern engine, totally different from any other Amiga diskmag's.

- Full-screen and window mode support.

- Mouse Wheel and Drag&Scroll support.

- Nice ASCII art done by aBHO and others.

- Cool modules made by FBY, XPEH, Okeanos and others.

- And much more!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stay tuned, issue #2 will be out on December 1st, 2009!

Thanks to everyone who supported us and helped with the promotion of the diskmag.

@mailman

Added window-mode (before was full-screen only)

Added support for mouse-wheel (before was not), so for now you can scroll text by mouse-wheel

Added support for drag&scroll (you can grab scroll bar by mouse, and move it over the article. So, just like any other scrollbar in any other apps. Before it was only like you press on some area of progress bar and then it flips (suck) )

Added AROS version (before was not). That is one of the important additions. AROS users now can use diskmag too.

Added native MOS version (before for morphos was only 68k binary)

Fixed some minor visual bugs which was happenes on some oses (like for example, for main option menu was problem on OS4 before, or for example on morphos, some choords of some sprites was wrong, now it ok too).

Added support for the toolz like "Alt-tabber" "alt+tab" (so, for now, for example with window mode, you can switch beetwen). Before you can't (it was just becouse i remove name of created window, for now it's back.

Fixed a lot of rendering code itself (becouse of that, was some "jerkynes" in some parts when you scroll text). It was very visibly for example on Morphos.

Fixed 100% cpu load (on some machines (expectually 68k ones with bvisions) was heavy cpu load). Now it's ok.

Fixed some bugs in rendering engine itself.

And i think somethink more, which i just can't remember for now :)

In generall issue1 for now much stable and much faster. Even with full AHI mode on just 50mhz cpu and voodoo3 it works fast without any suttering (before, for fast working on classic amigas you must use Paula mode, which of course suck if compare with AHI mode).
