   posted by ktadd on 19-Jan-2010 13:03:08 (3509 reads)
ClipDown Version 2.6 includes usability enhancements. It adds a drop down chooser gadget for easy changing of download modes. Also includes a QUIET tooltype and -q option to not open console when viewing files or playing videos. Still opens console for playing audio and downloading to allow abort. Can now be quit via the break command for script support. Example script for starting and quitting OWB and ClipDown together included in archive.

See below for full list of changes.

A small OS4 utility which uses 'wget' to download web pages and files pointed to by HTTP: and FTP: protocol URL's that reside in the clipboard. Additionally it can play/view or save direct link graphics, audio, video, and postscript (PDF etc.) files as well as files on sites such as YouTube and Myspace. Playback and viewing requires "AmiGS", "Multiview", and optionally "getvideo" and "Mplayer (read docs about version required)".

Videos of v2.5 in action available HERE!

Download v2.6 HERE.

Version 2.6 enhancements:
- Enabled Ctrl-C handling. Allow to be quit with BREAK command from script. Includes example scripts in "StartOWB" file in archive.
- Added "QUIET" ToolType and -q option to not open console when viewing files or playing videos. Still opens console for audio and downloading to allow abort.
- Added ability to toggle "QUIET" mode from Tools menu.
- Added drop down chooser for easier selection of download modes.

@All
Thank for the feedback. It's nice to hear the work is appreciated and used.

@Moxee
Thanks for adding the link.

@VooDo
I have no idea what the status up MPlayer is but it would be nice to get a version that cleans up and exits properly.

It is, I do wonder if we'll ever get a proper download manager for OWB OS4 though? Its looking less likely as the years go on :(
