Software News   Software News : Hollywood 4.7 demo version available
   posted by softwarefailure on 14-Jun-2010 17:09:57 (5333 reads)
Due to popular request, a demo version of Hollywood 4.7 is now available for download on the official Hollywood portal site at http://www.hollywood-mal.com. The demo is limited in features and does only run 30 days. And it is only available for Windows. There will be no Amiga demo version because it's just too much work to prepare and test demo versions for all the different Amiga platforms out there. Sorry for that.

Everyone who is interested in Hollywood please just try the Windows version to see if you like it. The Amiga version is exactly the same as the Windows version except that there is no IDE. Instead of an IDE, there is just a frontend allowing you to compile and run scripts. Cubic IDE or Codebench are suitable IDEs for Hollywood development on AmigaOS and compatibles.

Unfortunately history shows that every other application that added a Windows version quickly dropped the Amiga version, regardless of what was said at the time.

Maybe not immediatley but certainly later.

It is absolutely obvious though that this has nothing to do with adding the Windows version. The number of Amiga applications that was not converted to Windows, but still ceased to be developed is of course significantly larger.

@BillE and @Thread
Guys attention please (some at least...) The Author says at post N.3 that not only Hollywood isn't going anywhere but that he is preparing the next big thing as Amiga Exclusive.

Thanks for the demo I will install it on my little ASUS 1001P netbook, not the most powerful Windows box in the world but I expect it should be up to trying Hollywood out and seeing what I can do with it.

As anything I would be creating in the future with it if I were to purchase Hollywood would ether be intended to run on my 667MHz sam440ep under OS4 or my little netbook under aros (the only laptop amiga I have ) anyway.

Question is: why not make then only one demo version, but for AmigaOS4 for example , and not for windows ? Anyway, Billie right (imho). When one platform choicen as "easy one" and that is not amigaos, aros or moprhos , then everyone smell that usage of win32 have priority, and its just not feels like amiga specific stuff. But lets see.

The fact that there is no "Hollywood Designer" on Windows keeps me developing on the Amiga. And I love the fact that I can boot Workbench, and have Designer loaded up with my current project before the OS Startup sound has finished playing

Well, If Andreas choice the Windos as his future plataform he go very difficult because in windos the king is other languages, he in Amiga could will be the king with Hollywood but in Windos or Linux not.
Also I like the IDE editor this tool will be very good in Amiga too, instead of CLI and our "favorite" editor.

Superb software, don't know why I waited for so long before buying it.

Perhaps it is also high time for A-Eon/Hyperion to confer with Andreas on a strategic relationship that benefits all parties.

Is there anywhere to purchase Hollywood 4.7 apart from there own site.

Would be handy to get it from AmigaKit as I already have an account with them.
