Announcement   Announcement : IMICA Silent shipping now and special offer for 25th Anniversary.
   posted by clusteruk on 16-Jul-2010 15:24:16 (5144 reads)
Firstly I am pleased to say I am now shipping the new IMICA Atom Silents units, and thanks to those who have put faith in the Atom based IMICA project. Below you will find three links to the "Getting Started with IMICA Silent part one to three episodes." Yes I know you need to have system running to do this but I also include the full video on the system disk as well.

Now to celebrate the Amiga's 25th Anniversary I am offering free delivery (saving £20), for the first 25 orders received before the end of this month at only £199.

Again, thanks to all those who have supported me in this project and I will do another normal video soon.

@Wizzard_o

Nothing to do with OS4, but everything to do with AROS, and seeing as AROS has its roots set in the Amiga community, it is certainly relevant to this site.

clusteruk thanks for the hard work and investment! Thank you most of all for being open, honest, and not playing website games.

Hmmm.... The Dell Optiplex (2.4 GHz Intel Pentium IV running Windows XP) in our living acting as a media-player is starting to hick-up (bios-battery low). So... how capable is this unit to replace it? (I know a battery change is cheaper but my wife doesn't so just don't tell, okay?) Functions I need:
- Capable to play MP3s - This should not be a problem I think.
- Capable to play DIVX / XVID, with subtitle files like .srt - Is that available on AROS yet?
- Wireless connection to the home network.
- Possibility to operate it over the laptop using something like VNC

Additional would be nices would be the possibility to stream internet radio but that's of lesser importance.

Very nice looking little next generation Amiga system

I just don't have space for anything but a laptop at the moment but I hope that will change over the next few months, if so I may think about getting one then.

Why? It's something I really appreciate. In my book it earns clusteruk a lot of respect and a lot of trust.

@All

Thanks for comments good and well not so good.

To be clear I love AmigaOS and always have, that does not mean it is my first OS, but I want it to be. I wanted an AmigaOS on x86 since mid nineties and I and a lot of others are working hard to get it there. This is just the first small step, there are greater steps coming later in the year and next year. More news when we are ready.

Steve

You're not getting an X86 AmigaOS but you might get an X86 Amiga like OS.

Or are you telling us that you are working on licensing AmigaOS4 from Hyperion?

I believe I am getting a pretty accurate rewrite of the OS3.1 which to my mind is a pretty good starting point. Lets see where we can go from there, we are already ahead on the x86 game I believe.

No, but you will get the fastest Amiga OS on the planet. Even licensing from Hyperion can't do that.

@Cluster
AROS seems to come along nicely and I will certainly look for a compatible laptop, when I'm to change the old one.

@AHeretic
My old A1 is plenty fast for my use atm. and AROS in it's current state can't replace my AmigaOS4. But as written above it seems to progress very well.

@Troels

Thanks, I hope you get a laptop as an Amiga OS on a laptop or netbook is very cool. Remember wireless is only about 6 weeks away

Excellent news.

And looking at some posts on this thread, if this is the attitudes that are expected being an "Amiga user" these days, then I am glad I have moved on in many ways. having said that I am definitely looking at getting perhaps an AROS machine for some hobby computer time.
