News   News : Amiga Roundtable Ep. 45 - Double Rainbows and Kittens
   posted by Darth_X on 9-Aug-2010 20:53:36 (3200 reads)
Back after a VERY long hiatus and some crappy attempts at recording shows, we managed to get one banged out. Good or bad, here it is. Make sure to let other Amiga/MorphOS/AROS users know we're back!

Hosts: Rich Lawrence, Sean Fitzgerald. Guest Host: Jerry Withers, our host from ART Episode 1.

* Fortis v1.1 for Morphos out :encore-games.com.
* Cheap chineese Boing Ball keyboards and mice for fun and profits!
* 25 Years – Amiga – rather broad topic.
* 10 Years Morphos.
* Audio Evolution for Aros released..Morphos is just a powermac g4 away.
* Fairly recent flurry of game ports: Ginana Returns, Sqrxz, Gish – all quality!
* Open Office lite/kids edition development via Hyperion for OS4.
* amiwest plug – around the corner. Rich going?

@Rich/Sean/BillP/Eddie/Mike etal,

Since you are amenable to the idea of bringing back guests, at this juncture in amigaland, I strongly suggest to the nth power that you bring back Denise Howell. She, or someone like her, may be the only one who can stop the insanity here. I'm dead serious.

Not wishing to c**p on the efforts of Amiga Roundtable, but... it was claimed that the OO port is being done by Hyperion?!? I'm fairly sure this is wrong (*), and I'd really have hoped facts would be checked a bit more for a main news item/discussion point.

(* = at least I never heard of this. I only heard that Trevor of A-Eon fame was responsible for providing an OS4 development machine to someone who did a PPC port for a different OS, and perhaps Trevor might have suggested the idea in the first place?)

ChrisH:

Agreed - my mistake on that one. I -think- I made it somewhat clear that I wasn't all too sure who that party was.. but yes Hyperion's name was used.

Make no mistake about it, we do not consider ourselves as the "CNN/Sky-News/BBC" of the Amiga ecosystem by any stretch of the imagination. Let me make that perfectly clear. We are just a group of Amiga(oid) users you get together and talk free-will about this and that.

Sometimes we are a freakin' mess, sometimes..well maybe..we voice some of the same opinions as some of us all... but generally its developed to have a fun conversation and share conversation. That really is all and for fun.

With that being said - glad you listened. :)

Stay tuned, and if you'd like to join us (anyone).. please drop us a line.

Thanks,

Sean

Oh man-what a guest that I really wish I was a part of. Agreed.

Currently the talk amongst us has been Trevor Dick. 'Would be great if he could join us for a show...hell, the -whole- show and hang out + proper interview if he wishes as well. Maybe we will talk to his, "people" hehe :)

orrr... an IM from him would be just fine. ;)

-Sean

@Debaser
Yes, it was made reasonably clear that you weren't sure whether Hyperion was doing it..... but I can still imagine some less observant (and/or more excitable *) people taking the wrong impression away from it . Particularly since Hyperion's name did appear along-side OO in the actual news item summary.

Anyway, hopefully my previous post corrected any misunderstandings which might have occured, at least amoung AW.net readers.

(* = you can probably guess who I mean!)

Eh? You've been a regular on the show before and you only just found out it was a podcast?

Anyhow, good to see ART is back.

re MorphOS, I'd go second hand MacMini of any description over a new/cheap Efika...

I just though I'd share my experiences...
