Software News   Software News : Dental Info 4.0 released at Nordental 2010
posted by FerruleMedia on 14-Nov-2010 13:17:33 (3046 reads)
Dental Info is a commercial software package used by dentists in Norway to inform patients about dental treatment. The software is also used in schools as part of the education of dental secretaries. At Nordental 2010, the largest dentist convention in Norway, Ferrule Media released version 4.0.

Dental Info 4.0 is developed by the norwegian amiga-based company Ferrule Media, and is now sold by NDD, the largest supplier of dental equipment in Norway. Screenshots of Dental Info are present at our homepage.

Dental Info is produced using SAM440EPs/ 0S4.1 and Hollywood Designer 3.0 of Airsoft Softwair. It serves as a good example of how the excellent Hollywood Designer 3.0 is capable of making successful programs with high quality.

The amazing features of the Hollywood Designer opens up numerous possibilities for developers as well as regular AmigaOS / MorphOS users. Be sure to grab a copy of Hollywood Designer3.0 once released later this year.

Below are some photos from our stand at Nordental 2010. At display we had several machines running Dental Info 4.0 (Windows) as well as two machines running our infochannel Dental Kanal (running on Sam440EPs/OS4.1).

It IS possible to use Amigas in 2010!

Interesting. Is it possible to imagine an Amiga x1000 as server(database) and sam as clients(infochannel) for your solution?

Hi there!

Our infochannel Dental Kanal runs on Sams - we usually sell them as one machine to one screen. The content is saved on a small usb-stick on the back, so the machine is updated simply by changing the usb-stick. (they are not connected to internet).

Airsoft Softwair earlier developed a hardware-accelerated crossfade-effect so that even low-specced sams are able to do smooth crossfade-effects on rather high resolutions. The AmigaONEx1000 will ofcourse be able to run Dental Kanal, but is probably too powerful/expensive to be used for this purpose. (We do plan to buy one at a later stage as a developermachine however).

Dental Info however is only sold as a Windows-version. The two leading dental practice management- systems in Norway, Opus Dental and Nextsys Dental run on Windows. With great help from Airsoft Softwair we have developed an integration between Dental Info and both Opus Dental and Nextsys. Ofcourse Dental Info needs to run on the same machine as the dental practice management-software for the integration to work.

Best regards

It's great to see Amiga back in business again, but unfortunately there is no Amiga version of it, neither a demo one.

It seems a great job though.

I like this story as it was dentists that original founded the Amiga, who would of thought that in 25 years time it would be helping dentists.

Im very interested in Hollywood, I wounder if they will do another offer with Acube or Aeon and have the software bundled with the system, like they did last year.

Thank you very much!

My background using amigas comes from beeing a graphician in the amiga demoscene (under the nick "fusko"). However, the graphics in our products aswell as the design of our homepage is made by the french (ex-) demoscene-graphician Thomas "Splif" Morgan. He is my all time favoritte graphician.

Take a look at www.bwoup.com to see some more of his artwork from the old days :)

@ amigang

Being a dentist myself i love that story aswell!

I'm afraid i do not know if another software/hardware-bundle will appear. Still, the price Airsoft Softwair asks for the Hollywood / Designer is allready very low.

When you think about it there really isn't alot of amiga-software that is developed professionaly and you can buy for money - and Hollywood + Designer 3.0 is premium quality and well worth this money!

I think it is important that as many possible supports the few developers that remains faithful to our platform!

Actually, PC Software company Bioware (makers of excellent games like Dragon Age, Knights of the Old Republic, and my favorite RPG series "Mass Effect") have been founded by dentists too...

Makes me wonder what it is about dentists
