Good initiative... It should have been done this way from the beginning. Now I have doubts there's enough interested people/devs left in the community to do much work but I guess we'll see.

I wish Amiga lots of good developers and money to pay them adequate.

Maybe you should say something abaout possible tasks and conditions (payment).

If there's not enough money right now, perhaps the payment can (partially) be delayed:
if Amiga has in the future more money, developers will be payed for their work already done.

Well some of us here already support the platform every day by releasing software (OS4Depot, Aminet), always and only working for passion (= no money at all).
I guess it is a good chance to get deeper into the OS.

Now the question is if this is going to be paid or not ...
I replied the advert anyway :)

Sigh. Please don't bother posting if you can't even be bothered to read what you post about, or you will just end-up looking like a troll (and I'm sure you don't want that). Look at Comment #40 where he clarifies exactly why he made that news post & what it means. You may now remove your foot from your mouth.

But to answer your question directly: It appears his time to "move on" had long past (since he apparently never had much involvement with the Amiga side of Hyperion in the first place) and he felt it would be better if he let us know that he was officially no-longer involved with Hyperion. I rather suspect he didn't want easily startled Amigans (like you) in a few months/years moaning that "he never told us he quit Hyperion, there must be a conspiracy!"...

Great Question!

All Amiga Community is wondering that one!

The way I see it, they are just trying to enlarge the number of developers. Which is VERY good news. (the usual ones are still all in of course).

I think this is a once in a life time opportunity to be part of the one of the most legendary OS'es.

Thank you for the answer. It helped me a lot. Good to have you here.

Btw. do you know how many people are working now on OS4?
Or does anyone know. Thanks in advance for the answer.

The way it was done before was behind the scenes. Somebody would be approached based on their previous work. The legal troubles with Amiga Inc. helped pushed it all underground. There must be some reason why Amiga Inc. wanted a list of names working on the Amiga's source code... 'nuff said.

Since posting my blog entry last night I've received several high quality contacts already. Not bad for a few hours with no advertising.

We had a lot of good discussions at AmiWest and opening things up and reaching out to the community more are a direct result of those discussions. It has taken me a bit longer than I wanted to get the boing ball rolling but at least it is rolling. The development blog was a first step. One step at a time.

Sorry I don't have much time for web forums. I find web forums eat up all your spare time if you let them. Those with questions should use the form on my web site linked from the blog entry.

Have fun!

If you are feeling depressed after the last news and the lack of progress, there is always an real open source alternative for an Amigaoid Research OS. You can join the team, no NDAs needed. Just give it the direction you want.

-You don't need to be an professional.
-They don't will abude you passions,
-You can work on every code as long it keeps open.
-We all need your help.

Agreed. Now it just seems like "Work free so we can sell your work!" kind of ad.

Which is precisely what it boils down to, yes, I'm sure. There have been many people working on OS4 for free, and it's therefore no surprise that some of those have moved on - it's only "fun" for so long. I'm sure there are others out there who would be willing to contribute without payment, and that's great because it can be fun and worthwhile. However, it would be silly to bring new paid developers on board until Hyperion have settled their accounts with contracted developers that have already worked on OS4.

@Arko

Wrong thread to promote another OS, I think.
