Software News   Software News : New software releases by OnyxSoft
   posted by Deniil715 on 27-Apr-2011 16:20:40 (3274 reads)
OnyxSoft releases two updates of our software!

CodeAudio, MultiRen

Updated programs
CodeAudio v3.04 - (68k) Full-featured GUI for audio encoders (MP3/OGG/FLAC/FAAD) with a wizard and CD, CDDB/FreeDB support.

- Dieter B. has been very kind and pulled the HTML docs up to date again! I will try to keep it in sync from now on.
- The default AHI mode ID for Mpega became "$DEFA" instead of "Default".

MultiRen v1.71 - (68k) Powerful multi-file renaming tool using MUI. Has plugin-support for MP3-renaming and more.

- Made the File Cleaner "Initial letter upper" restart after a period "." or opening paratheses.
- Added some more extensions to the extension editor.
- Fixed a crash when adding an extension in the extension editor.

If you see a bug or have a suggestion, please don't hesitate to drop me an e-mail!

Great, good news. I use MultiRen a bit, it does everything you could imagin, when it comes to renaming. I especially like the MP3 related routines. However, as it has so many options, usage/interface is quiet hard to understand. You defenitly have to read the Manual.

thanks Gero

Oh crap! Copy'n'pasted the default line and forgot to edit the version. How lame....

Mods: Could you please edit the version of MultiRen from 1.66 to 1.71?

Thanks!
Yea I know it can be a bit difficult to grasp. I've beent hinking about ways to improve the GUI, to lead the user to what he wants and needs rather than just sit there and hide the tools and the options from the user.

Perhaps a wizard, like in CodeAudio? What do you think? Not a complete homogenous wizard, but a startup guide to open the relevant tools for the user. Lots of complex M$ tools like Visual Studio does that.

The plugins are quite central to the Renplacer, which in turn is the most central tool. Maybe the plugins should extend the window instead of hide on a page.

I agree that the user interface needs improvement somehow.

I only use Multiren once per year and each time I use it I must relearn the program all over again from scratch.

It is such a kewl proggy. I hope u can improve it. Thanks.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Yep, a wizard is a good idea, seems not the moste beloved thing in Amiga communitiy, but if you look at Playlistconverter or even iBatch 1.x it works with "wizard method" (Playlistconverter) or at least "stepwise" (iBatch).
Once again, giving idea for usability improvment on a program which I am not really into is hard....

greetings gerograph

@Deniil715

Two great programs, thanks for the updates.
A wizard for multiren is probably a good idea.
I tend to forget how to do things with it myself and have to relearn each time.
