Well, it took few months longer for Classic,
but don`t you worry improvement of SAM 460 version
and update for all must come next ...

After all, how long has it been beta for AmigaOnes or SAM EP440,
and yet beta was quite good?

That's great news indeed! Now all Amiga PPC users will be up to date if it comes to new software for AmigaOS4. What will be estimated price of the new operating system?

Excellent news. Well done to Matthew at AmigaKit for funding the development.

@vox

We probably could have released AmigaOS 4.1 Classic a few months ago, but we wanted to make it as best as we could - based on the available resources of course.

Alot of time was spent on the Installation procedure to make it more robust and to also make it look much nicer.

Not to mention we spent extra time testing the memory paging, updating the Extras programs, making new backdrop images, icons, and adding new functionality and drivers.

As stated in the press release we have some further enhancements planned in a later update, not to mention Update 3 coming too.

It is nice to be able to run all of the software that requires 4.1 now on the Classic. And it looks very nice, especially with a graphics card which I would highly recommend.

Included in AmigaOS 4.1 Classic is a comprehensive Install Guide and detailed hardware FAQ, too.

@Ryu

Perhaps Michael Boehmer is preparing a new busboard with real ZorroIII DMA thanks to his expertise with Zorram/Deneb and Prometheus, who knows?

It's a known issue with their DNS and ISP, just try a few times it will work. They are trying to fix it...

Good news all round, as I understand 4.0 was a bit slow on classic PPC hardware, hopefully 4.1 will perform much better for Blizzard/Cyberstorm owners.

640x480 in 256 colours on AGA was, is and will be slow. That is why GFX card is highly recomended. OS4 could be probably useable with less colours (eg. 32), but for sure not pleasant to use (small screen resolution, only few colours for icons etc.).

And of course...

Welcome!

Why two names? Was Prometheus a weird word in some market and they needed a different one there, or was there a different reason? Was/is something planned by whoever bought Prometheus from Matay?

Making the OS 4.1beta on the SAM460 to final and Update3 are imho more importannt. I am a bit disapointed about Hyperion....

I'm pretty sure Hyperion have stated before that time has not been taken away from other projects by 4.1 classic.
