UPDATE!

A quick fix has been uploaded to OS4Depot today to fix a couple of bugs, one of which has been reported.

* The App-Store strictly requires a resolution at or above 1024x768 in order to open. For some unknown reason the previous error trapping wasn't working. You will now see an appropriate message from Jack rather than Hollywood. REPORTED by Tekmage. Thanks for spotting this one. I find it amusing how you are using a lesser resolution that this though.

* Star Ratings in Search Results where shown incorrectly. This page is no longer cached.

In the next update I am going to add a Weather window, I just spent the last 90 minutes getting a standalone program that works with the Wunderground API to present the forecast for the next 5 days and its working a-okay.

Just over a 100 lines of code and I've parsed the stream already into an array and displayed the weather icons in sequential order. HW and Curl/Wget is making things light work.

In the end I'll add it into Jack as a transparent and moveable window that'll fit nicely underneath LimpId and a few options says - open App-Store, open File Manager etc...

Well thats the idea anyway, last time I tried I had some difficultly setting up a transparent window, but I understand from the documentation that it is possible. I just need to have a blank alpha transparent image set to dimensions of the window. Play around this evening I think.

Edit: Wow official BBC old-style weather icons, only 15 euros... how awesome!

I downloaded 1.8 but when i click "Download software for your computer" a error pops up and tells me: "Access error - Cannot find Helper application SYS:C/Curl" i had a quick look into my C folder and curl is there.

Wet has an ARexx port you could have used

Actually your Wunderground standalone program might be able to be interfaced to Wet as a plugin (Wet uses ARexx for plugins, basically a load of SETVALUE commands).

It's a bad idea to invoke programs with an explicit path. AmigaOS has a search path for commands for a reason. And on top of that, a newer alternative is the AppDir: mechanism.

dont wonder about the formatting in my post above. The jack.xml looks good. When i change the string for the key Curl and pointing directly to the path where curl is, the app still gives me the same error. Cannot find Helper application SYS:C/Curl. But thats not the value i stored in the xml. It seems that the xml is not being parsed / parsed properly.

Yup, I know this. These helper applications are set in a config file, there is a configuration editor in the file manager of the application itself.

All these helper applications are installed into these default locations anyhow when installing Jack.

However...

... Curl is one of a small number of helper applications that isn't configurable at present. So yeah making changes in the config does nothing... haha... don't know why I bothered asking for the contents of the config file then. Doh!

So is Curl in SYS:C/ or not? Did you move it from the installed location?

Yes curl is in my C folder on my workbench partition and i also tried executing it, works. I did a clean Installation of AmigaOS 4.1 Update 1 + Update 2 + Update 3 last week and have not touched curl at all. Compared to my clean installation last week i did not changed very much, so my sys is currently a pretty clean and working installation.

Hopefully fixed in Jack 1.9 which has just been uploaded on OS4Depot. There was a tiny problem in the where the configuration was being loaded and saved to - fingers crossed this has cured your problem.
