Hyperion continues its tradition to provide regular free updates of AmigaOS 4.1 and with the festive season just days away, this is a particularly appropriate time for a free update.

The inclusion of Roms and RIU is something major IMHO (and ChrisH knows it is something I've been begging for, for quite a while ) it is an acknowledgement on Hyperion part that classic compatibility is something the community has at heart.
Kudos to everyone involved!

Anyway, I manually checked whether all files had been copied over and then made the updated version the first bootable one.

Well, not actually a horror story, certainly not for Amigans as they are generally used to quite some challenges.

All I can say now is: "It works!"

Thanks to all involved.

Nice to have emulation integrated. It's seems so natural to have classics and next gen at the same time.

Agreed, sadly it has been waited so long!

Now, we know it will be part of OS for ever

I got this also. I anticipate having to do some things differently (manually) because of how I have arranged Kickstart.

Roadshow updates? I wonder if the release of Roadshow for classics is imminent. Also happy to an elf.library update. Fixed broken and missing relocs from PowerPC ABI?

I installed the update yesterday and all seems to working quite well so far. Something is munching memory, or not releasing memory after exit. Still trying to determine which program.

Merry Christmas.

Did you mean those ones which report wrongly by numbers ? (i.e. report 36, but in reality by elf specificatin its 72). That ones was fixed in update3 if i remember right.

Or did you mean something else ?

Just a note to Micro users, I tracked down the boot problem with all 4 USB ports active, reported, but not fixed yet.

Load SYS:Kickstart/kicklayout in a text editor & comment out the lsi53c8xx file.

;MODULE Kickstart/lsi53c8xx.device.kmod

This is a scsi driver, doubt anyone would ever need it anyway. With USB keyboard & mouse, I need all 4 ports.

Introducing the new Emulation drawer with official AmigaOS 3.x ROMs and Workbench files. AmigaOS ROMs are provided for all classic Amiga models and the CD32 platform.

I had to think this one through, but come to the conclusion this is a very good idea. It also seems to suggest moving towards SMP is in the roadmap since direct compatability would be broken. Are ROMS provided by Cloanto?

Looks like a good release and a nice X-mas present to OS4 users.

The install will show you where it will add/update files, should be sys:, just make sure you boot from the partition you want to update first & it should work fine. It is an update for ud3, not a clean install.

It sounds so encouraging and simple.

It is, but you should make a backup first, as always.

Hey, I installed 14 versions of ud4 to test, not one gave me any problems installing, just do it.

@sundown

Well, I *DO* own an expansion with a lsi53c8xx part, so I do need that driver. My SCSI scanner (Epson 1200S) requires it and for completeness sake I've added a ZIP-drive (100Mb) to the same bus, which I never use btw.

So please let me have my scsi-driver, pretty please?

OldFart
