   posted by VooDoo on 25-Dec-2011 9:46:23 (2875 reads)
After 15 months of development YAM 2.7 has been released in December 2011. It is a new major release with many new features and important bug fixes.

YAM (short for Yet Another Mailer) is a MIME-compliant open-source Internet mailer written for AmigaOS-based computer systems. It supports multi-POP3, APOP, SMTP, TLSv1/SSLv3, multiple users, PGP, unlimited hierarchical folders, filters, a configurable GUI (based on  MUI) and an ARexx interface and many other features which are common for Mail User Agents ( MUA) today... ??
Features

As the development of YAM goes back to 1995 it is probably one of the most feature-rich applications on the Amiga platform. Especially the MUI-based user interface allowed to implement functionality which are commonly used in graphical mail user client on other platforms today. Furthermore, the support and compliance to the most recent  RFCs is one of the keystrength of YAM..

@YAM team

congrats on the release; i know many users will be thrilled. currently i use simplemail because it supports both IMAP4 and HTML messages. i had looked forward to this version because it was scheduled to include both, but now looks to have been pushed off to future releases. nonetheless i'll give this a go just to compare.

@eliyahu

If you take a look at the 2.8 roadmap it says they hope to introduce it.

They already said that 4 years ago: http://forum.yam.ch/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=72&p=301&hilit=IMAP#p301

They're hoping to introduce it in the 3.0 release: http://yam.ch/ticket/37

Thank you, but bad news for AROS version is that it requires latest nlist and after installing latest nlist, something goes wrong after YAM starts up. It is like the window is cut in half and it is not possible for me to resize the window left or right, resize up and down works fine. Also what is shown in YAM window is pretty wired. I could always put up a screenshot if someone is interested in looking at it.

Look forward to trying out, although though currently use SimpleMail.

As with buses you wait for an age, then two come at once.

Hi,

Many thanks what a great Christmas Present.

I renamed YAM 2.6.

Downloaded YAM 2.7 and installed it, then copied over a few files and it runs excellent on my uA1.

Happy Christmas.

Regards, Michael

YAM is still being updated? I've been under a rock it seems! It looks like there is a MorphOS specific version too. YAM was always a nice mailer. Too cool, will download shortly

more hoping? i loved Yam too when I used to use it but it really does need HTML. It must be 90% of e-mail these days.

Good work though, glad it hasn't fallen away in to obscurity like a lot of great AMIGA 3.x based programs did.

@shades

didn't you use to compile/build your own builds of Yam?
