Keep on roll'n on! Will definitely check it soon!

| That's great stuff guys, well done! Now, I need to find out what happened my AROS install after the last update to break it. (more to do with the Ubuntu install than AROS though I suspect...) _________________ RobTheNerd.com | InstallerGen | SMBMounter | Atoms-X

| At last AROS have real browser !
Seeing how fast it works on aspireone, seeing how fast and responsive google docs works, and how fast html5 tests works because of x86 cpu power, i am 100% sure that aros now can be used a lot more in compare with previous version of owb which aros have.
Through, on vids also found that starting a bit not fast : it takes about 7 seconds for start on nikos's video (while even on peg2/1ghz it take only 3-4 seconds) and zune theme a bit not so eye candy. (But sure zune will reach mui4 level soon or later)
Can't test for now, but have a couple of questions:
1. what about plugins ? did they works currently ? (that sfwdec one) 2. is threader-curl is used, or blocked one ? 3. did those classes from Thore are used by owb already ? (i mean process and aboutbox reimplementatin) 4. what about tabs ? custom implementation as on os4, or changes in the zune was done in that terms ? 5. what about opensource inbuild media player bounty, so it can be used for aros/aos4 ?
Will donate a bit again to the bounty. Its always glad to see AROS progress, soon we all can swih to it :) Last edited by kas1e on 09-Mar-2012 at 10:18 AM.

| @All, thanks for kind words:
Answering kas1e:
>1. what about plugins ? did they works currently ? (that sfwdec one)
No, besides I don't have sources for sfwdec plugin
>2. is threader-curl is used, or blocked one ?
Blocked
>3. did those classes from Thore are used by owb already ? (i mean process and aboutbox reimplementatin)
Yes
>4. what about tabs ? custom implementation as on os4, or changes in the zune was done in that terms ?
Zune is extended. Title class implemented.
>5. what about opensource inbuild media player bounty, so it can be used for aros/aos4 ?

| So, no update but a fresh install?
Another thing that interests me is running the distro native... Currently I have a hosted version on my Acer Aspire WLMi 5024. An old model which always caused problems on systems other than Windows (an old Linux live DVD never got to console, the latest won`t recognize KB/Pad/WiFi etc...) Is there any chance to get it run AROS only (Aspire OS is released/optimized for Acer computers, but mine is very old...)?! _________________ Ordell Robbie: Is she dead, yes or no? | Cass:
There will be update for AspireOS 1.6 users. It will be for download later today.
There is always a chance to run native. Could you try to boot AspireOS with it ?
If AspireOS boots, you could always get external usb network card, or change the internal wifi chip. That would require you to open the computer, but with right tools it is very possible. Last edited by nikosidis on 09-Mar-2012 at 11:17 AM.

Nope. Icaros 1.4 file structure is too much different from 1.3.x one, so upgrading would have messed up everything. I eliminated all unnecessary, excessive drawer nesting (except where functional for applications to run correctly), replaced drawers of all command line utilities spread everywhere into a single extras:C directory, moved al companion files (docs, sources, and so) into the single Extras:Documentation directory, moved hw accelerated games to a proper drawer and so on. I even reduced all those AROS boot options to just three in GRUB menu. I felt the need to do all these things for many months, and this was the right time IMHO. This should help me making next Icaros 1.x versions easier to update without a global reinstallation. |

Thanks for making the sources available. Zune was actually a nice surprise - it did not require that much improvements ;) _________________ https://www.axrt.org

Is this it?
If so, my best guess on what works is this:
Working: ATA, USB, graphics (VESA), Ethernet Not working: Sound, wireless
AspireOS is optimised for certain Acer netbooks, not for Acer machines in general. |
