software AROS   software AROS : AspireOS v.1.8 codename "Stardust" is ready for you.
   posted by nikosidis on 9-Apr-2012 10:48:14 (2353 reads)
New version of this free and fantastic Amiga like OS is ready for your i386 computer.

This is not a major release, but I wanted to include the fantastic theme work done by Shufflepuck and the new icon set taken from Elena.

Here is a screenshot where you can see the new theme and icons:

New program is the now the free and fantastic HD-recording, editing program Audio Evolution.

Unarc is now part of AspireOS, it makes it very simple to extract archives.
Updated IntelGMA gfx-driver and many more

I also did a video about how to use AspireOS.

Hi Nikos

I cannot believe how much I learnt from this video, had no idea about the double clicking on the download file. Perhaps we need an active button next to the download path to explain this as it is a great feature.

Been trying to find a youtube downloader but be great if we could just tie them together

Brilliant video thanks.

@clusteruk

There are many similar features in Odyssey, actually.

@Nikos

About Youtube, there are a couple alternatives that you might find interesting, by the way.

Go to menu -> windows -> script manager : add the extension "youtube.js".

Then open a new tab, and go to any youtube video. You'll get the direct links to the video just besides the video area (on MorphOS it also replaces Flash with HTML5 video when HTML5 mode is not enabled).

And that way, if you configure the contextmenu for an action over a link (settings -> contextmenu) or configure a mimetype action (settings -> mimetypes) for video/mp4 or video/webm or whatever, you'll be able to invoke directly mplayer from contextmenu or by clicking the link to the video, without even downloading it.

(it mostly works like ibrowse in this regard)

great vid Nikos! I checked aspireos.com and happy to see that the Samsung NC10 is fully supported as I have a Samsung N120 which is basically the same system with slighlty bigger keyboard and screen.
I'd like to buy the USB stick just to get those cool AspireOS stickers on my netbook

klx300r: hehe, no problem dude. If you just want the stickers, you can have them for free. Only give me for whatever is the cost of sending them.

@all
