News   News : Amiga Future 100 and what do you think?
posted by AndreasM on 4-Nov-2012 10:29:09 (2876 reads)
the last two-digit numbered issue of the Amiga Future has just been published. The first-three digits numbered issue is just in progress.

We would like to know, how you came to the Amiga Future. How long do you know the magazine? Why or why not do you read it?

What did you ever wanted to tell us and what do you wish us for the future?

In the crypt we created some space, so Higgins can comment all your letters in issue 100.

So please write preferably immediately directly to: Higgins@amigafuture.de

I would like to see lots of testing, hardware and software,
i know that you cannot do that alone because it demands
lots of time and... hardware and software.

So, why not let the community test things themselves and
then you could use them for in your magazine.

If 100 users could test something for every edition i think
that you would have a bigger magazine.

We try to test the latest software and hardware available in the magazine. No one is alone in this, there are at least 10-15 editors for that already. Unfortunately, the pages will not increase as far as I know (it just became full color a year know) for the time being, so it's somewhat impossible to contain even more software/hardware reviews.

Great magazine. Resubscribed when I got my AmigaOne 500 earlier this year and haven't regretted it for a second. Varied and interesting content. I would like more of everything, but I guess the community must expand a bit before that makes sense.

Thanks for all :)

"So, why not let the community test things themselves and

We have sometime articles from our readers in the mag. When anyone would write a review, write to us.

"visit to their offices, plans "

Visits are a problem. Nobody from the writers a in the near of the office. but interviews have we in the mag... when the company answer us.

We would like to know, how you came to the Amiga Future. How long do you know the magazine? Why or why not do you read it?

I only sub in the last two years mainly due to me wanting all the info I could get on the X1000, but found it to a be a great overall coverage of the Amiga world and there are many stories and programs I would have missed if I hadn't got it.

What did you ever wanted to tell us and what do you wish us for the future?
One thing I feel that is slightly over looked (in all magazine really) is the power of the internet and reviewing online apps that work on the Amiga, things like Google Docs Review would be good and how maybe to get it running better and best browser to run it in, but there of course a lot more apps and html5 programs that run on Amiga browser and I do think its something worth exploring more.

The only other suggestion I have is I remember a thread a while back complaining about the lack of introduction tutorials to AmigaOS in general to try and get people interested in the platform, I have seen certain type of these tutorials in Amiga future workshop past and present, maybe these tutorial could be put together in one PDF for people to read after a certain amount of time. (plus I love to have the Amiga story Trevor wrote in complete form, which I missed most parts to, in one mag or even pdf) any way its just an idea I put out there.

@amigang

about the articles. good ideas. i add it to our todo list.

about the workshops and specials.

the users can read the articles from the sold off issues online here: http://www.amigafuture.de/kb.php

at the momentan are many many articles online + the articles from issue 11 to 84. sortet for issues and sortet for single articles, example workshops all parts in one article. we would have all sold off issues online, but its a time and money problem.

when a user like PDFs can he order from sold off print-issues the PDF on our online shop. Or our Amiga Future Arcive DVD, included issues 11 to 90.

True, but I think that's part of the problem they are buried within Amiga Future mag or the web site, a new user is unlikly to find the great resource that is on offer from your site.

Here is the original thread
http://www.amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=35476&forum=14&12

Maybe you could work with hyperion, a-eon, even aros and morphos users to create a little simple PDf of the best tutorial you have covered for each of these platform to be shipped as part of the OS, that way users have a little introduction to each platform, might make a nice way to promote your magazine and website as well. these are just mad ideas by the way.

Good idea,,
And why not, after this PDF,
make another PDF (not free of course) with all your programming tutorials
(including all your very nice german & english C tutorials translated in english)

I just got my first issue and it is great!

Yes, I'd love a compilation of all the C tutorials put together in a single PDF.

Keep up the good work!

Scott
