Software News   Software News : AMC - new price schemes
   posted by phoenixkonsole on 30-Mar-2013 14:13:58 (2410 reads)
We have lowered the prices for AMC - the Amiga media Center.
If you know XBMC you will understand what it is aimed for.

We splitt the development of AMC in to parts.
AMC light will stay as kind of XBMC.
AMC 2013 (working title) will become a more desktop orientated application.

Read more ---->

Everyone who bought AMC for the initial price of 29.95 (. = , in Europe ... roughly 30 ) will become every future update of AMC light AND AMC 2013 (+ future updates).

From today you can also get a single user license of AMC light for only 10.

A lifetime subscription for "AMC light" costs 20 and qualifies to install it on 3 different computer.

For 29,95 as in the past you will get 3 licenses and a lifetime upgrade path for both AMC and AMC light.

If you are interested in AMC light (a la XBMC) you could buy a single license for 10. Skip and update and buy again when something interesting for you has been added.

I have repacked the AmigaOS 4.x package to use the "Flat-theme" and have added an updated Web-TV list. Since nothing has been changed everyone who uses AMC already needs only to download the channel data.

AMC light is controlled via keyboard or remote.
Up/down = up/down
h = online help of highlighting a image in picture browser

I have bought a SAM733 to test it by myself. You may know that I am normally an AROS guy.
On the SAM you will have following effects:
AMC's GUI is completely rendered by CPU. So reducing resolution is a must.
Normally I run the WB in 1080p, but for AMC I go lower. It depends on your taste how far, but I go down to 832x624. There the GUI is responsive and video playback benefits from the low resolution too. 1024x768 is OK too. A 1024x600 resolution can be a good compromise for wide screen.

The demo version is very limited. You can only scan the whole system with all partitions.

I would not suggest this. This takes ages even with an SSD. Don't be fooled, even if progress bar stagnates at 0%, AMC is still busy. It took 20 minutes for me to do a full scan SYS:, Work, : docs: full of crap images from applications.

As told: I suggest to use only drawer scan. Choose the drawers with your photos and let AMC only scan what is "interesting".

Same for music. AMC scan simultaneously for all supported media. Pointing AMC to the root drawer of your media is the way to go.

On my SAM it took than again a bit to open the image browser the first time. AMC will do some caching and thumbnail creation. This takes a moment. Next time it will be quickly opened.

Happy Easter!

Hi Tommysammy,

only Allanon /Fabio can accept new users, we had problem with bots so he changed the registration progress.

I assume you tried on X1000? If so I am glad because I had no response from X1000 users so far.

As we made AMC only the SAM440 was available. We used a ATI 9250.
As Acube announced the SAM460 i was happy because of its performance gain but in fact most users bought a ATI HD card.... At that point the available ATI HD driver had no overlay and caused incompatibilities.
Then came the X1000 and I was eager to bundle it eventually with every Amiga and... long story short.. ATI HD driver killed the idea.

I am not sure if the new drivers who are sold separately work better.

In the package you will find an installer. You need to run it. You can decide to install the recording scheduler but you don't need to.

Ouch Tommysammy..
It works on my SAM733 as it does on Fabios SAM 533... so basically your sentences are correct but you should target the creators of the ATI HD driver and the X1000.

EDIT:
About the wrong drawer name.. I assume you didn't run the installer ; )

EDIT2:
Can you please tell me if you use an ATI HD card and if you use the latest driver?

agreed. x1000 user don't run it because your system is full of bugs and not compatible to the mplayer included in amc.

the only thing we need to check are those sideeffects when hollywood is also installed.

as long i have no other information amc needs a sam440 with ati 92xx or any aros pc with any gpu (vesa or nouveau).

My Altivec version of MPlayer works well here on my X1000
So it is not a X1000 or MPlayer problem.
We can get it working on a X1000 but there must also be a will

Ok your mplayer works.. wow.
We had to change stuff in mplayer. I assume those changes are missing in your "working" mplayer. Else if you would replace it with the one in the AMC package you should be able to watch web-tv. Since you told me that it still doesn't work i must assume that the mplayer you are using misses needed functions.

Chicken egg problem. You are still using a beta system with alpha drivers.

It is not our fault if your new System doesn't run available software.
So it is no bug. It is incompatibility of your setup to already available software.

I found this:
http://amigax1000.blogspot.de/2012/06/getting-mui-mplayer-to-work-on-x1000.html

So mplayer seems not to work out of the box on an X1000...
i can try to edit the config file of the included mplayer.. maybe this solves your problem.

But as you see: Your X1000 seems to behave differently than other Amigas.

Found also this:

This could work:

# you can set up a list of vo with their own options. The one below is what mplayer handles by default.
vo=cgx_wpa
mc=0

# Set audio driver below. (ahi = non-shared, ahi_dev = shared)
ao=ahi_dev

# device:unit on which dvd drive is connected.
dvd-device=isb600sata.device:1

I have added it to this config file: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9349609/config
Try to replace it in the original AMC package from www.a-mc.biz

AMC/utilities/mplayer/conf/config

This is X1000 specific.

I can post much photos from working movies from mplayer on my X1000
I can post screenshots from playing Youtube videos playing over mplayer
And again MPlayer works fine here without any troubles with only"alpha drivers" ;)
It is not a X1000 or MPlayer problem!!!

I'm sorry TommySammy and PhoenixConsole, but you don't have to be so rude with AMC, HDradeon and the X1000 devs here. This seems to be just a misconfiguration of the software, no need to go into a stupid flamewar like that! You are worth better than that!

So, to the X1000 users, be warned that this soft need some adaptation to work on your system, It has been developed for Sam users at first, as it was the only system available in the developpement team. Your feedback need to be adressed directly to the devs to help them to improve their Soft. They need encouragement, not these kind of post!

I wish you all the best!

Regards,
Petrol!
