Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : Retro Planet - Issue #1 is out.
   posted by Morphix on 28-Sep-2013 4:58:23 (3329 reads)
Retro Planet is a new printed magazine from Greece powered by www.amigaplanet.gr
Issue #1 -September 2013 -- is now out. The magazine is focused on Amiga, of course, but it includes topics about other computers and consoles as well.

It will come out every three months -- four issues a year -- this is our plan.

It is written in the Greek language, however we are planning to promote it on-line as well, with some special exclusive articles in English, so stay tuned! To give this goal a head start, we have uploaded our English Blog here:... (Please click 'Read more')

http://amigaplanet.wordpress.com/

We think it is important to mention this fact here, because Retro Planet is the one and only printed magazine about Amiga, and other retro stuff, in existence in Greece and it's one of only a handful currently distributed worldwide (together with Amiga Future, Retro Gamer etc.)

You can view more details about the mag in English here:
http://amigaplanet.wordpress.com/2013/09/27/retroplanet-magazine-is-a-reality-at-last/

We already have an English section online in our forum here:
http://www.amigaplanet.gr/forum/viewforum.php?f=49

Check also:
http://www.pinterest.com/amigaplanet/boards/

!

As you will notice, Cyrus is standing proud on our debut front cover. An interview with Trevor Dickinson is our main article -- this is the first interview Trevor has granted to the Greek media.

Yes, we believe in the power of the NG Amiga -- no matter the flavor-- and we are trying to support it in every possible way!

Thanks to everyone who have supported the magazine thus far.

Thanks for looking!

Excellent stuff.

Please carry on and translate it all to English. I'm sure you would get plenty of subscribers - a pdf mag, perhaps.

Good luck, guys.

Looks good! But, who are the men in the photos shown in the above news article? Don't they deserve some credit?

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Thanks on behalf of all the people involved in this new mag (including me :) ). The guys in the photo are Cool_Amigan on the left (also member of AW) and on the right is Dony (a very well know and respected member of the Greek amiga community). The effort that led to this amazing PRINTED magazine might be collective but there are a couple of people that ran the project as if it was an everyday-paid job (while it obviously this isn't the case). The man behind the original idea and the one that got it all started is Morphix (also member of AW). Hope you like the mag even if it might all be greek to you.

@discreetfx

As far as i know, it's a little bit tricky at the moment because of the overwhelming and not so expected interest and because of the fact that the first run has already been sold out. Anyway, as stated on amigaplanet.gr there might be a site/page where to place your order in the near future but for the time being try to contact the guys that are responsible for the distribution through the following mail

amigaplanetgreece@gmail.com

@Moxee

The hansom dude on the left (and the one alone in the other photo)... it is me :)

@Faranheit

Friend, I am gonna contact you through e-mail in a couple of minutes. I need your (personal or working) address to sent you 1 issue!

@Trev

Thank you so much for the kind words! You know first hand what trouble we went into and the drawbacks we suffered. Still we managed to pull it through :) Also, I am gonna need your own address as well since 1 printed issue is already booked for you :)

@OldAmigan

There are thoughts of translating part of the magazine and release them for free to the public via a new blog/website. Especially the parts that were already in English (such as the very, very interesting interview with Trev), most probably will happen. However, translating and/or reprinting part of / full version of the magazine is rather unlikely to happen due to resources needed for the effort (man power, time, money).

@DiscreetFX

I have already contacted my friend Dony (the one in the photo with me) who holds the records with the pre-allocated/booked issues and see if we could do something about this. You will hear from me via pm within today.

@all

The magazine was a limited run (only 100 copies). However, since it was outsold before it even finds it's way to the printing house (!), we are considering to slightly increase the number of copies. The plan is to have it released in a regular basis (4 issues per year), to the underground Greek Amiga/retro/geek community.
