Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : Freescale and QNX

Since I receive a regular newsletter, I thought this might be of interest to fellow Amigaworld.net users.
"Freescale has developed a programmable logic control (PLC) reference platform to ease development of industrial control systems. The PLC in a box platform implements Koenig’s EtherCAT® Master protocol with ISaGRAF Firmware and QNX Neutrino® RTOS on the Freescale QorIQ P1025 processor. PLC in a box is supported by powerful development tools from all four companies...." (Please click 'Read more')

"EtherCAT is one of the fastest growing, Ethernet-based communication protocols used in industrial control systems. EtherCAT programmable logic controller reference platform delivers 1ms cycle time with less than one percent CPU overhead. Freescale’s QorIQ communications processors are integrated with support for communications protocols such as EtherCAT."

I have had preferred news that Freescale had developed a mini-atx or even computer in a box or PLC powered with QorIQ series T, that is cpu equipped with ALTIVEC so could be a viable solution for a new Amiga motherboard...

Starting from their design motherboard then it will be easy to realize a computer for our Small Office, multimedia and daily use for us Amigans... But... Well, I think we must apprecciate even lesser advancements...

I have looked all over ALTIVEC, for some good documentation for it, but most of what I find is dead links to Apple , it be really grate if there some beginner guides to assembler programing and ALTIVEC.
