Software News   Software News : Status-report: AresOne, App Store, Raspberry Pi, EEEPC's and AEROS
posted by phoenixkonsole on 3-Feb-2014 13:27:41 (2848 reads)

Hello,

I just want to inform you about ongoing projects and new products around AROS and Amiga in general.

Read more ---->

App-store project:
The Service-name will be IndieGO!-Marketplace.

As told before the Server-Api is and will be documented so other 3rd parties (Hyperion, TeamMorpHOS maybe) can make use of them.

There will be 2 "reference" clients.
One text based and one graphical.

We target a public release in March. For the text-based client maybe earlier.

The API will be developed further and with a bit delay we will release a client-application especially for content-creators and a packaging system (as .deb but here called .igo)

From that point updating of AROS Broadway/AEROS and included apps will be handled with .igo packages.

IndieGO!-Marketplace - clients (application to access the store) will be available at first for:
AROS, AmigaOS /classic/NG, MorphOS, Linux PPC, Linux i386, Windows, OS X PPC and i386

----------------------------------------------

We will resend Opt-In-Mails to all developers who have missed them. Due to a misconfiguration some providers declared it as spam.

The 15% offering for preregistering as developer will be extended for one month after resending the opt-in emails.

www.indiego-gaming.com/marketplace
---------------------------------------------

Raspberry Pi and AEROS

Short info:
AEROS is available a public version and as non-public including (lx-command)
The non Public Version will from now on be called AEROS plus (there may be come more plus than just lx, stay tuned)

www.aeros-os.org

At www.ares-shop.de I offer now also the sd-card-service as on ebay.
Also I offer a ARES-Pi bundle containing everything you may need to start.

Pi-bundles with AEROS may appear on other shops too.

Donors and customer who have already a log-in to www.aeros-os.org will get later a download code for AEROS Plus .
-------------------------------------------

Also at www.ares-shop.de you can now grab refurbished EEEPC's fully compatible to AROS native and 1year limited warranty.

Raspberry Pi and EEEPC are part of the new ARES99ers a category where I try to add AROS HW for 99€ or less.

Also the next AresOne 2014 will aim a price below 150€ (new base system not used)
-------------------------------------------
As always:
Revenue is reused for AROS (Bounties and or direct payments to developers)

great idea ! would be great if all developers/users of all camps can use this centralized Market Place for everthging Amiga.

btw, have you been in contact with A-Eon since they have been proposing to do the same thing for a while and it would be a pity to have overlapping stores.

Hi,
I only tried once via facebook. I'v got a response to use trevors other account but no words about my questions. I think he could not find diplomatic words in that moment ; )
I am not sure if they do a webfront only. In my case everything works without a webbrowser.

My system is open. Every party can join at any time. If late and without making hands dirty, than with normal conditions.
We will also offer a referral-system. So the server will know from which os someone bought and earnings will be splitted on an individual discussed base.

And thus two competing Amiga App Stores were created, for lack of a single message

I very much doubt it. If you ever spoke to Trevor (especially face-to-face), you'd know he is a really easy-going guy, who wants all different Amiga flavours to succeed.

Much more likely he is too busy to keep track of all different communications on all different accounts on all different message systems, and so he asked you to contact him via an account he knew he would find time to read & remember to deal with...

I know, like and respect him a lot. Met him in 2010.
i meant diplomatic translation for what hyperion would say.
And why should i resend something i had send allready. So info has been read and i got a response.

I am busy aswell and as pointed out, doors are open but i am not waiting.
maybe having 2 offerings isn't bad at all for customers.

Except there are no customers in this case. Only betatesters, enthusiasts, nerds and gnomes. There will be no customers before some genious Jeeves Tobs comes along and just wants us to have his business idea. I call it drunken nasty forum troll style.

Choice is ONLY good when you have a large market. When you have a small market, choice tends to be bad for the customer, because no-one has a large enough market to make it really viable.

The Amiga community/market would be in a FAR better state if there was never that OS4 vs MOS split (meaning maybe twice the market size, with developers not reinventing the wheel for each market). While we can't undo that, and so have to make the best of the situation, that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to avoid that kind of thing happening again.

So IMHO, if you want the best for all Amiga users, I'd be pushing *at least a little bit* to avoid duplicate app stores. Passively waiting for someone to get back to you (when they already asked you to message them on a different account) seems hardly likely to give good results.

Ok.. is true if you still see only MOS, AOS and AROS.. this is aimed to the "nerdy Steam".

There will be commercial stuff and non-commercial stuff, there will be music, mags and movies... independent maybe even things which find not the attention they deserve on a large market.

There will be billions of Public domain and home-brew games from Atari 2600 unto PS3..

See it as central component of my indieGO!-console. It is just to serve my own needs ; )

For me it doesn't matter if other camps use it or not. I offer them this possibility.
For me I will add own stuff there and will license a few games from time to time..

Step by step people will come by themselves (not hired by me or paid in favor..)
May take a while but i am sure it will happen.

EDIT:
Ok i will contact Trevor with his other account. -just for the record
