Software News   Software News : New software releases by OnyxSoft
   posted by Deniil715 on 6-Jul-2014 14:37:15 (2666 reads)
OnyxSoft releases MPlayer-GUI v1.52 and BackUp v1.80 with fixes and new features!

... click read more for details!

MPlayer-GUI v1.52 - (OS4) Reaction GUI for all MPlayers for OS4.

- New modern banner and icons by Tommysammy. Thanks! :)

- Added X1000 sb600*.devices for CD/DVD.

- Fixed the Control panel Full screen menu item.

BackUp v1.80 - (68k) Backup program that mirrors a directory structure.

- Fixed crash when copying 2GB+ files.

- Added a menu item: "Target is FAT file system". Use this when backing up to a partition with FAT file system to prevent BackUp from copying existing files over and over. The reason is that FAT can only store even seconds (0,2,4,6,..) in the file timestamp so it will not match the Amiga file timestamp.

- Also added auto-detection of FAT file system when doing an incremental backup.

- Added a synchronize mode. When clicking Clean first you will be asked if it should automatically backup when finished. Saves you some time when synchronizing backups.

- BackUp will automatically skip the ".recycled" dir when present in the root of a SFS/2 or JXFS partition. No need to manually put it in the skiplist anymore.

- Fixed size calculation for big files (2-4GB). Files over 4GB will be correctly copied and calculated, except in test mode. The "N bytes extra space was needed" may be wrong with 4GB+ files.

- Made it possible to select files over 2GB for the skiplist.

If you see a bug or have a suggestion, please don't hesitate to drop me an e-mail!

(Files should be available on aminet.net until OnyxSoft and OS4Depot has been updated.)

Unfortunately, MPlayer-GUI doesn't support LiveForIT-Mplayer (AREXX commands) sot it is useless with this version of MPLayer.

@K-L

I believe LFI's mplayer was updated with functional arexx commands. Although I don't use the control panel myself, easier with the key controls directly in mplayer, so it doesn't make it useless, you still get rid of typing shell commands.

@Deniil715

Well, you can only see one video since when closing a video, it doesn't ungray the START button. You have to tell Mplayer-GUI that LFI'Mplayer has crashed but it doesn't free up memory usage.

@K-L

What version are you using and what video driver are you using? I have not seen this behaviour since I was using the sdl driver with some old mplayer.

Does it behave the same in the shell? If not, what switches have you enabled in the GUI? Select "Print command line" from the menu to see what extra parameters you give it tat you don't use in the shell, if it works in the shell without hanging on exit.

Thanks for the updates.

BackUp sounds like just the program I need to backup my sam440ep to a FAT formatted USB disk now USB2 seems to be stable on my sam.

In the past I always just made manual backups to another fixed disk inside my sam440ep with DOPUS4 but this has 2 downsides. First I can only recover files with another OS4 computer (not good if I have a hardware failure) and secondly links were not preserved, so the backup required more space than the original and included duplicate OS files.

@Dwyloc

Even though BackUp now can do incremental backups correctly onto FAT devices, I still recommend backing up Workbench (i.e. SYS:) and the SDK (which has a lot of links) to something that has an Amiga file system to make sure all protection bits, comments and links are preserved correctly. FAT cannot store all the Amiga attributes.

Besides, you have little use for the system without an Amiga to run it on

Better to backup data files, like music, pictures, programming etc. which makes sense to read without an Amiga onto FAT.
