Software News   Software News : VoxelNoid
   posted by Daytona675x on 1-Oct-2014 22:53:12 (3522 reads)
Hi,

Our new MorphOS and AmigaOS 4 (Warp3D!!) game "VoxelNoid" is ready for download here.

For free! Although donations are welcome, of course
There's a press-kit and DVD-cover-art available too.

An Android-port is also available (that one's free version is limited though).

The game was first presented to the public some weeks ago at the Gerp 2014 demo-party where it won the first place in the Wild competition.

In its core VoxelNoid is a break-out-variant with 3D voxels: the bricks, balls, extras, even the bat, all voxels.
The voxels ain't just eye-candy though. They are an essential game-play element:
If a brick is destroyed then it explodes into the tiny voxels it is built of, filling the playfield with voxel-debris.
As soon as the ball approaches such debris it starts to swirl around and flies to the bat, where it is converted into energy to charge the laser.
And guess what: with that laser you can blast away those bricks in rows! Even those harder blinking bricks the ball cannot destroy cannot withstand a well aimed laser-blast for too long. Besides that the laser can be your last resort in critical situations since the ball is slowed down while firing.
And real high scores can only be achieved by true laser-masters.
When you destroyed all normal bricks the next level is entered - and there are 30.

And then there is that 2-player-simultan-splitscreen-mode...
Clean up your playfield first to win. And if you know how to handle your laser: use it to beam penalty-bricks to your opponent's playfield, one for each two bricks you shoot. Harhar

Please check out the readme.txt inside the archive for further information.

For WaZp3d users, use this WaZp3d config file : http://www.amiga-ng.org/resources/Jeux/Wazp3D.cfg

Put it in VoxelNoid's drawer

Excellent game !

Congratulations to all involved with writing this new game for AmigaOS4 and MorphOS in 2014!

This game is a lot of fun to play. I just had a brief play with the MorphOS version and it runs well! Will play again on the weekend.

Definitely worth downloading!

That's why it says Warp3D with two extra exclamation marks above!!
It's a 3D game that was made for Warp3D. It is not meant to work with anything else.
Please consult the readme.txt and hope for the long awaited Warp3D for RadeonHD.
Or live with graphical errors and/or low fps and try one of the wazp-config files other people supplied (even in this thread).

Nice game.. tested on both AmigaOS4 (sam460+wazp3d) and MOS 3.7 (powerbook g4)

On mOS4 it works but with wazp3d it is slow.
For MOS3.7, I had freezes on powerbookg4 when playing first level

@SinanG

As being said and also explained in the readme:
No Warp3D -> no fun.
Wazp is a crook and it sometimes simply can't do magic.
Ask your OS-vendor to solve that issue by providing 3D support for your gfx-card

MorphOS crashs:
yes, we were told that on some (3.7 ?) systems it freezes.
However we were not able to reproduce it until now (on three different MorphOS systems, one even being a 3.8. beta) nor do we have any crashlogs / ramdebuglogs
From what we know until now it looks like a driver issue with some gfx-cards, but that's just a guess. Might as well be an audio driver issue or whatever.

EDIT:
we now know that the MorphOS crash is apparently happening due to a (Radeon-)driver problem. The issue has been reported to the MorphOS devs.
