Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : Powering up the past: Ars goes hands-on with the Amiga 500
posted by -Sam- on 30-Jul-2015 22:27:15 (2386 reads)
Good but short article about the A500 with the suggestion that 'we're looking forward to figuring out how far we can push the 500 into the 21st century. Anybody know a good Web browser for Workbench?'

AWeb doesn't work for you?

Depends what the "pushing" means :) How much you're going to expand? If not much, the lightest possible (but old) browser is AMosaic. If expanding to little better CPU with some memory expansion, then any of the most common Amiga browsers.. I prefer IBrowse 2.4, but AWeb and Voyager are options too. They lack CSS, so they work better with early 2000s sites (you might want to try wayback machine or so) or few nice sites like this which have remained compatible :)

If you really push the upgrades, then maybe even Netsurf or OWB, which are really heavy for Amiga, but support the more modern standards like CSS.

ACA500 + Blizzard603e + BVision + 256 MB RAM + OS4.1FE and you may use even Odyssey.

Before worrying about a browser, maybe worry about ping?
