| Haha.. congratulations on the new release!
It is always fun to read your news, and i'm really eager to hear more about the "secret weapon III". I love that you always keep things secret, until you suddenly release a new big update or plugin.
We are lucky to have you around!

| Great news. Would be nice if we could actually see the new functions in action so we can really appreciate how programming Amiga in faster, more productive and efficient.
Would be awesome to use in game/app purchases. Responsive UI. _________________ Download 499.26 Mbps, 659.94 Mbps Upload :)

That will not much use for any Amiga platforms, and that could be a new target platform, not a plugin.
It is a good game to solve this riddle before released
My bet is a common method for use native GUIs.Last edited by Lazi on 13-Mar-2016 at 06:10 PM.

| @Zylesea Correct. Only technically possible.
It is listed on the linker GUI, but shadowed out just as the Android target. As the Android APK can be made by a separate program already, maybe sometime ios legal problems can be solved too. |

| Wonderful news - I especially like being able to compile the plugins into the executable; this makes it so much more straightforward to distribute programs.
Cheers, Nigel. |

| Hi. Can I ask what are people doing with this program?
"For creative people" - They call me that.
For the XE or A1200 or The Win7? Certainly buying. |

Well, pogramming. It's a comparatively easy programming language with a particular focus on mulimedia things.
http://forums.hollywood-mal.com/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=72457fbc722fdfcca70f68a30fe88762 has many programs done with Hollywood.
It's for te XE, the Win box and - with a few limitations - for the A1200 (slow and limited gfx).
I use it with Cubic IDE on MorphOS. It's a great thing. _________________ My programs: via.bckrs.de MorphOS user since V0.4 (2001)

For all of those, but not so much for A1200, because it runs out of power in most cases.
to put it easiest to understand, Hollywood is a programming language (it is actually a scripting language but difference in this case is such a minor, that i still would think it is a programming language, had it not been emphasised to me that it is actually a scripting language).
You could compare it as modern Amos or BlitzBasic in some sense. It is not as easy as they were, but it is much more powerful and capable, yet not as hard as for example C.
Programs (scripts) made with hollywood can be compiled to many different platforms, including Amigas.
Nowadays even classic amigas are supported again, and you could make even an OCS/ECS game with it, however, in pracitce Hollywood is not very ideal for that, since it is not trying to take every possible inch of power out of Classic Amigas, but it is trying to be modern language where the focus is on usability on modenr machines, not in A500. Therefore dont expect to be able to do much with it for A500, even it is theoretically possible.
As example, since Hollywood puts its interpreter into executable files made with it, they will automatically take about 2 Megabytes, even if it has nothing else but "Hello World" in it, because that interpreter takes that much space. Therefore One floppy disc taking game for A500 is automatically out of question.
Other than, you can make anything with Hollywood. It has all the modern things, even 3D support and Internet.
As example. Indiego Appstore, and I think somewhere was said also AmiStore are both using Hollywood for most part.
Just like with Amos Pro, you could make both games and software.
There is also this software called Designer, which is bit like Powerpoint, but is actually hollywood in easy to use mode for those not necessarily wishing to program but who are just wishing to make simple programs or multimedia presentations.
But dont understand this wrong. Anything you can do with Hollywood, you can do with Designer as well, it is just that Designers user interface is designed to be used for making multimedia presentations and similars, and therefore when making a big serious program, it is simply easier to use traditional text editor methods than use Designer for them. |
