I tried to do $5/month.
In paypal there was no path (Odyssey Web Browser 1.23) to pay from my pay pal balance.
I was only given the options of my checking account or to supply a credit card.

I won't do that.

Is there another place to xfer money to AROS .. $60 once a year? Starting right now?

First of all, you should check your PayPal account, it's quite strange the payment page does not allow you to pay with your PP credit. Are you sure you actually have money on the account?

Patreon for now does not allow different timing than 'monthly' for patronizing. That's, I guess, the scope of the site: creating a monthly income where there's not. If you wish to donate 60 dollars/year, which basically is the same for 5$/month, I guess you'd be better using the "Donate" button once a years, instead of using Patreon.

1) on Patreon's page?

or

2) on PayPal's own donation systems? (the one with "DONATE" orange button)

If 1, I guess it should be the norm, because I don't think PayPal can activate automatic SEPA transfers, while credit cards can. ELSE, if 2, you have to check with your national PayPal office.
