News   News : What OS should be proposed by retailers regarding Vampire V4 Standalone?
   posted by AmiDelf2 on 2-Jan-2020 13:37:07 (6207 reads)
Help the Apollo Team to decide where to go with their new Amiga Compatible motherboard
Vampire V4 Standalone.

What OS should be proposed by resellers as an option for the Vampire V4 Standalone?

Amitopia Amiga Magazine is supporting the Apollo Team and all of the Amiga Community so that the Amiga future is promising for everyone. We were asked to put this here because of many retailers and Apollo Team. We hope that this will help sales.

Vote here on Amitopia website

Please Don't be under sold with neither of these.

The first thing years ago came in mind when Vista was Rendering, MP3 Playing, ABD3D were just playable with PayBack and all worked with DPIV and Final Writer and IB etc... compability.

So didn't dare to Vote.

If not (what I assume) then add "pancakes" as option

Luckily my English is very bad and not my Native language but ban this RoseGuy?

Intention for a mail was that not to be sold with any "must" like windows?

With compability as with whom wan't s can discover. Mine was wishes from when used back then if was buying.

PR is 0% knowing what this is but surely can not replace the Apollo ´060 with it. As Far as I know anyhow. Never Say Never?

Options are fair but I see somebody stands up. This is why no poll and no answer.

Laitan MSX käyttiksen siihen koska siinä oli yks huippu lentokone/helikopteri peli. Haittaaks?

So there is the answer;) Have a nice rest of 2020.

I voted AROS because Graphics.library on AmigaOS needs a total rewrite to support chunky modes from copper lists, etc. AmigaOS really has NOT aged well even in the recent variants.

@Samurai_Crow

I voted AROS because it would be nice to have AROS running on a readily available hardware platform in addition to running hosted on Linux.

yeah.. as it was to be proven, some rosetta stone is in high demand here.

now.. i wont vote, especially that i dont believe it matters at all. but if i did.. you certainly guess what i would be voting for, right?

anyway, you can simply scroll through the commits and see how much work towards support for vampire and m68k is being committed day by day:
https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/commits/master
(not that other targets are forgotten, especially x64)

but two most skilled and active aros developers have received v4 units, so that aros and vamp teams essentially already share members, and not just these two.

Why not make both AROS and AmigaOS to be available options for the Vampire V4 Standalone?

Maybe this could become a common platform for both 68K operating systems.

the survey is irrelevant... there will be both options. The main difference will be that there is a tight cooperation between apollo team and aros developers so aros will offer advanced features out of the box. 3.1.4 is what it is, running but missing needed features like RTG, network stack or USB support (all included in Aros already)

You can even install 3.1.4 kick roms and still use Aros

And one can use AmigaOS components with AROS where and when needed.

Other thing I like about AROS is that it will not be restricted, closed by some company trying to make money out if it. Anyone can contribute and even in 50 years from now people can still modify it.

AROS without hesitation, not to another private estate of Hyperion and their Amiga OS 3.1.x every year with the price the 25 euros, one time well, every year during x years is: 25* year result €€€€ for Hyperion and few advances in the Amiga.
