| Hi,
I am not sure if in the update of OS4 the UAE version for OS4 is updated. But besides that, can we expect sometime a decent UAE version for OS4? My feeling always is that it's left behind a bit. Give it a decent GUI also. I just want to be able to run some nice old games and demos on OS4 with UAE.

Well, 'Coder', do some coding then ;)
Jokes aside, rumour says that Richard Drummond is working on something. I guess we can either wait and see or do some coding ourselves.

I remember that too and this is something I would buy. I got faith in them. No need to look at the product just order it.

I thought that too that Richard was doing the UAE part.
A decent UAE is really needed. Everyone wants to play those old games that can only be played with an emulator. And don't tell me to use WinUAE. It's not the same. I want to play it on a real Amiga.

By the way, because of the Avatar thread I now know yours is Bruce Campbell. I know him and the movies but I did not see it before. Stupid, right?

Haha... I don't know about that. All I'll say is that there were clues... I mean, just after he builds the robot hand he looks at it and says "Groovy!", its quite a memorable scene.. or I thought so anyway... Also, my sig is one of the main gags in the film.. the whole section where he can't remember the words... Hmm, i would prefer to emulate an A1200 useing custom hardware ie an A1200 in a pci card, on this card is a 'bare' A1200 with a floppy header. when you run the emulation software the code is run on the PCI1200 card and not the local processor, the floppy disk headder could also be used in the A1 to read amiga floppy disks......
just a thought...
Wizz.

Is this the UAE Richard is working on or is this from Cloanto? |
This was a screenshot I did of my version of UAE built against libSDL for OS4.0. I did it a) because a couple of people had been asking me about P96 emulation (which isn't supported with E-UAE's current AmigaOS gfx driver - although it will be soon); and b) to prove how far our SDL port has progressed.
It's showing AmigaOS booted from the Amiga Forever 6.0 CD.
BTW, as far as I know, Cloanto don't actually do any UAE development - just packaging (Which is not meant to belittle Cloanto. They do an excellent job in producing the Amiga Forever series.)
You can find a clearer version of that screenshot here

I see a GUI part for disk-swap |
No really. That's UAE-Control, which has been around for donkey's years. It's not teribbly useful for disk-swapping - unless you fancy typing in the complete path.
The OS4.0 version already has an ASL requester for selecting disk images to insert.
Cheers, Rich

That's my thinking also. This was the "solution" in the beginning, remember? The would provide an interface on which you could connect your A1200. That made me really exciting. Too bad it got cancelled. Anyone with a soldering iron fancying some work?

True! They "only" do packaging which sounds a bit lame or seem to credit them wrong but they actually do a very great job indeed.

Great! My biggest wish for OS4 is just a really awsome UAE version.
What does the E in E-UAE's mean? Evilrich?

Actually, it's not meant to stand for anything in particular.
When the project started I just called it "Experimental" because I wanted to emphasize that it wasn't the official UAE tree. I had no plans at that time to maintain a separate branch of UAE. I just wanted to get WinUAE working on Linux and get the changes merged into the WinUAE tree. I didn't want to give it a name as such because, IMHO, there were already too many separate branches of UAE - BeUAE, MaxUAE, etc. and nobody was talking to each other. In reality, that goal hasn't got very far. This is partly because of a lack of time on my part - it's hard work keeping up with WinUAE, especially when I'm trying to keep my tree buildable on as many platforms as possible.
Anyway, people starting calling it "E-UAE" (for instance, see the link on the WinUAE home-page), so the name has sort of stuck.
I've started calling it E-UAE just so that everybody's talking about the same thing. I'm not too keen on the name myself, but it avoids even further confusion.
The "E" can mean anything you like. And, no, it's not 'evilrich'.
Cheers, Rich
