Amiga.com

Nice to see it updated, but I prefered the previous style, it looked more "professional"

@Varthall
The most important thing is that the site is up and its a place for them to show us that they are trying.
This is great news.

Well the site is up right before the weekend and the interview with Mr. Hare .

The Operating System page has a view things that make me wonder. Quote: 'In 2001, Amiga, Inc. licensed the development of AmigaOS 4.0 to AmigaOne Partners, collectively Hyperion VOF and Eyetech Group Ltd.'.

Maybe I should post this in the thread with questions for Mr. Hare, but does this imply that Hyperion doesn't have an agreement for OS4.x versions? (Since AmigaOS 4.0 is being mentioned specifically?)

This one also seems to indicate that the scope of the agreement with Hyperion is limited to OS4.0. Quote: 'Please note, the development of future versions of the Amiga Operating System is not available for third party development or distribution.'.

Also if it's not available for third party development, are they planning to develop future versions in house?

Don't forget to check out the news section (now we know who is behind OS5!):

Now I'm sure they'll get hell for this line:

[OS4] "Now scheduled for commercial release in early 2005"

It's good to see the page online but the design? Is it a website or a circus?

@Trixie

A schedule is a plan for performing work or achieving an objective. IMO schedules are good, it isn't a deadline however.

This new site is pure ####, they even don´t know to build a well designed website. They don´t have any image identity in the web.

*SIMPLY* the don´t know any word of how to build a company, an product, an identity, and an website show that.

It´s sad

I'm very disappointed to read this. AmigaOS seems to just have a token mention on the website, underneath the exciting Solitaire game for AmigaDE.

But the line that struck me most was:

Quote:

Please note, the development of future versions of the Amiga Operating System is not available for third party development or distribution.

This seems to imply that OS5 (and possibly OS4.x) will not be developed by outsiders. I can see 2000 repeating all over again. AmigaOS is dead (again), although this time they may name a new version of DE, AmigaOS.

Very disappointed, very angry.

Nice stuff. Can't wait until sunday.

The site is ok, but they should get rid of the Times New Roman font.

Im with you on this.

I think the community should get behind Hyperion and help them make the biggest success possible of AmigaOS4.

@MikeB

It states that Bill McEwan is Vice President of product and market development. Is it refering to the AmigaAnywhere portion or all of Amiga Inc.
Anyway, congratulations to everyone for making it possible.

@Wiffy

Yeah, best of luck to Hyperion. I'm going to buy a micro-A1 today as a gesture of support to them.

No need to worry about AOS5 yet.

Hyperion has right to develop AOS4.9999999999 if they wish :)

@thread

This bit is interesting, though:

Quote:
KMOS, Inc. announces the formal change of its corporate name and legal identity to Amiga, Inc.

March 16, 2005 - San Francisco, California - Today, KMOS, Inc. announced that it has completed all registrations with the State of Delaware formally changing its corporate identity to Amiga, Inc.

Hi,

Where did they find this Adept IDE ? I can't find any mention on the web. And their site is .. humm... under construction.

That's very interesting, and completely contradictory to what we've been told before. I wonder if it's just badly worded, of have KMOS let the cat out of the bag.

Well, compared to the official M$ (lots of weird links) and Apple (commercial for iPod) sites, atleast the Amiga one seems a lot cleaner. Might just be that I'm used to it though
