Hi all,
wanted to post something in the forums to make people aware of the Midland Amiga Group (MAG) bash that is happening on Saturday 1st Novemeber @ Earlsdon Methodist Church hall in Coventry. We are opening the show from 1.30 and should last until 6.

We are situated about 20 mins away from both the M1, M6, Coventry airport and Coventry train station. We are slap bang in the centre of the country and are surrounded by hotels and B&Bs.

If you are looking for information about MAG, the event or the venue please have a look at the website http://www.midlandamigagroup.info. If you have any specific questions you wish to ask please EMAIL me.

We are looking to persuade some big name exhibitors to attend, but they are all asking for a good show of hands before they will commit. To show them that there is willing I have created a pledge page. Type in your details and I will add them to the list. THE SCRIPT IS WORKING AND I AM ADDING PEOPLE IN BATCHES. Please add yourself to this list if you want to attract attention (especially from exhibitors from far-a field!!)

I am looking to make this a great event. We are planning for a seminar room, some great competitions, good show bargains and a drink down at the pub later. There will be tea, coffee and soft drink available, but no alcohol bearing in mind that it's a church, and all that.

Entrance is dead cheap. Probably £3 each or maybe less depending on the number of pledges.

I look forward to hearing from as many of you as possible. I will be updating the website and this thread when interesting things happen. Keep them peeeled!!!

Cheers

@niceguy1979

I'm off that weekend and have made my pledge on the website now.

Oops just realized that was the bad date.

UPDATE:

I have been steadily taking names and adding them to the pledge list. At the moment, the numbers are too small to arouse too much interest from the exhibitors we want.

If you haven't pledged yet please do so. I'm not trying to collect all the names of people who come onto the various forums and say they're going to attend. It'd take me ages every time to find new names and weed out duplication. If you don't pledge, it wont count.

http://midlandamigagroup.info/pledge.htm

Your email address is optional and that's basically to let you know if there are any last minute changes etc. It will not be published.

Cheers

Pledged and paid up front. At least you've got the dosh if I find I can't get there. Looking forward to it already, and with todays news of OS4.1 on SAM, who knows, we may have that new hardware combo we've all been dying for.

@Rudei

Thank you for re emphasizing the need to pledge attendance at this event as it is essential if we are to attract big name exhibitors and with today's announcement I'd love to think that Acube and Hyperion are waiting in the wings and dying to meet the UK community (and sell some hardware and software !! ).

@OldAmigan

hey there,
thats excellent! It all seems like its gathering steam and when good men like yourself "put your money where you mouth is" then it should send a good message to big exhibitors. I appreciate your support and hope that you really enjoy the event.

To all potential exhibitors, we are still taking names for pledging Amigans. We are looking for companies and usergroups who want to come along and be there. If you want to exhibit you can contact me l_stowe@hotmail.co.uk

I'm really looking forward to the show now. I think the news about OS4.1 for Sam440 should really boost attendance.

@nrj1200

not yet, but I will do my best to find some for you. There is a street in Coventry that has a lot of B&Bs on so if I get any time I will try and find some special offers.

@ All

Does anybody else need accommodation? If I have an idea of people I may be able to negotiate a special offer.

Amigakit have decided that they will be attending the MAG bash!

So, they should be bringing with them SAM boards and OS4.1 if that interests anybody??!
If you want to save yourself P&P cost and collect from the Amigakit guys in person then come along.

Our pledge total is 32 so far which is getting there, but not enough as far as the other big companies are concerned. We're after at least 100 people. I'm pretty sure the Big Bashes had those amounts, so I'm confident that we can achieve those types of figures. What with the new hardware AND software here now's a good time to show your support and come along.

If you haven't pledged yet, please do.

Cheers
Luke (niceguy1979)

ps. thanks for those pledged already!

Come on people, if you're in the UK and are free on the 1st November, come along and see some cool stuff. Hopefully you can pick up some HW if you want to too

Even if you're not in the UK, perhaps Europe, you might consider coming along. I'm sure there are options to and from airports etc. PM me if you're not sure.

@Rudei

Nicely said Rudei. Coventry airport is very cheap to fly into from europe and Birmingham airport is just up the road.
There is a train link from Birmingham to Coventry so you can come over there. transport from the train station is simple by taxi and shouldn't cost more than £5.
B&B can be arranged as can hotel rooms.

So, if you can't get to the other events around the world, perhaps you can make it to this UK event?!

@niceguy1979

There is big news afoot! But I'm not going to spill the beans until I receive confirmation emails.....and if IanO knows whats best he'll keep stum too!

I am taking offers of raffle prizes from anybody interested in marketing their companies/products at our event.

I am also offering a table for those companies who can't attend to display promotional materials and discounted offers for attendees. If you own your own company and want some free advertising then contact me via email or PM.

Things are shaping up nicely. Are there any more people yet to pledge?? Come on people, you wont be disappointed with the latest news, but it wont happen unless we get some more pledges.....

Check back on this post within the next few days for more info!!
