Sounds very promising. An Dropbox uploader docky would be cool, as would similar for flickr, etc. Wish I could find the time to work on this myself, got so far, then stalled and not found time to go back to it.
Look forward to hearing more about your progress, good luck! _________________ gtmooya's blog |

First OS4 Dropbox upload, managed to to a complete upload using a command-line program, its a very early version but its uploaded a 2.5mb file 'AmigaDropboxOS4.exe' to my account and then as you can see the windows dropbox client has notified that a new file has updated. At the moment the program approves the dropbox app each time(which isnt good practice) but i gets the 'request token' then opens up OWB, once the browser is shut down it the continues on and does the upload etc. The little white box is a snippet of the source code, im slowly building a dropboxlib
In case anyone doesnt understand the image fully, im running a vnc (remote desktop) of my AmigaOne onto my Windows cross-dev environment.
Ive also made it create a directory on dropbox and also get my account Info.(which is the bit colored out)
thou this code is very unstable, need to tidy it up and implement all error checking.
ps one big problem with dropbox applications(non official) is there is a maximum upload of 150mb per file, yes it sucks.
PPS the upload process is pretty much identical for flickr and other web-based applications Last edited by TheAMIgaOne on 16-Oct-2011 at 08:25 AM.

Excellent news, I suspect that by the time I've finished converting Jack text boxes into native ones this'll be ready for me to pick up... ohh software development its never ending lol
Yeah, you heard me right all the text boxes in Jack are being replaced with proper text entry like any other AmigaOS window complete with wheel support, spinboxes, cut/copy/paste and what-not. Quite tedious, but needs to be done I hate the current pop-up text boxes as I suspect users do too.
EDIT: Next release will probably feature the 'opening-up' of the JackTunes interface as well, as I've found time to configure my Mac running Leopard. Initially so you can browse your music and use the Tag Editor at will. Later I'll add the all-important sound playback, but that'll have to wait a short while. Fantastic! Can't wait to give it a try.
On another topic, what VNC viewer on the PC side?

Hey, its TightVnc, small client(also can be server too) worked on old XP and now Win7 setup. Thou is slow, not sure if its just my current network setup or the implementation of AmiVNC-OS4, I so wish paul nolan would share the source code to Siamese RTG.
Saying that I mainly use it for quick keyboard and mouse control to the A1, saves using two keyboards etc.
@thread
Thanks for comments, solved the issue of constantly authorizing the app, it now logs in once and saves the access keys for future calls. Also now not so error prone, been researching into Dos notifications(for file changes) sqllite lib (for index the files on server and local) and starting to put together a small OS4 dropbox gui app that atm is separated from the dropbox cli command. _________________ Cross-developer on Windows, OS3, OS4, Linux; Current Projects:- Nephele Cloud App OS4 UserProfile System OS4 AmigaOneXE OS4.1.6

Great stuff!
Nice screenshot, that output window is very familiar , although mine didn't do anything useful of course.
I always imagined the ideal solution interface wise would be a docky you could drag and drop files onto, which changed its look when uploading similar to AmiUpdate. Unfortunately I struggled to find any documentation on how to go about creating one. If any one knows of a docky 'how to' guide, please let me know.
The 150mb limit is a shame although I would imagine for most people's use, which I would guess is the free account for documents, photos, etc, this wouldn't be an issue.
Maybe let Dropbox know about the finished uploader, I think there is a list of third party apps somewhere on their site (might have imagined that). But who knows might it could spark a developers interest in AmigaOS? _________________ gtmooya's blog |

Right ive narrowed my program down to a single file uploader, im still researching the docky or appicon drag and drop feature, this can be built into a secondary exe for all os4 specific stuff.
Have now requested 'Production Status' from dropbox, but still to need finish a website so they can have an insight of what it does and look like. Done me logo etc. Hopefully by the end of this week I hear from dropbox , then I start Beta testing with other users.
Oh just realized your user name, you the one who makes that help application that Jack uses. _________________ Cross-developer on Windows, OS3, OS4, Linux; Current Projects:- Nephele Cloud App OS4 UserProfile System OS4 AmigaOneXE OS4.1.6

Good stuff. Will add website to next revision of my PDF guide. Yes, am 'responsible' for the gtmooya section in Jack, which is based on Assist (a Hollywood app I've been working on).
Unfortunately I have struggled to find time to work on the guide and Assist lately, although updated guide should be on OS4Depot soon.
Let me know when you need beta testers, will be happy to help. Last edited by gtmooya on 28-Oct-2011 at 11:16 AM.

Similar situation to gtmooya when it comes to finding the time to explain the help application's database.
That's why I add the Submit an Article form actually within Jack itself! Tsss, shame no-one has filled it in yet. _________________

| This is fantastic, well done!
Quick thought - I've not tried it (yet) but it seems like it's just an uploader, right?
Is there anything to stop it using a directory like other OSes do? From memory, one thing that OS 4.1(?) added was program notification when a file is added to a directory, enabling things like file requesters to update automatically. That would mean that the Dropbox app would listen on this directory and then upload automatically. Very cool. Is this planned? |

I tried doing that, i had some problems whit OpenSSL, DNS server dependencies, IPv6 dependencies and problems whit unexpected errors about close connections, Despotify has a text based client that should be easy to add a GUI on top, once the client work as its expected.
Basically our TCP stack is too old, and OpenSSL sucks, and yes and we don’t have sunrpc that named depends on. Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 09-Nov-2011 at 10:07 AM. Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 09-Nov-2011 at 09:09 AM.
