I can help with that. I worked as a professional painter with my father for several years.
Currently, though, I'm a Senior Radiation Therapist at the Cross Cancer Institute in Alberta, Canada. |

In past I have administrated pretty much every unix you can name excluding orginal AT&T one. AIX, SINIX, BSD, IRIX, Tru64, HP-UX and few others.

Ah, studying is a worthwhile pursuit. I just returned to school myself to get my MBA.
As to careers, I've had a few already.
In to '80s I was the manager of a small firm called Delmar Company that marketed 68000 and 68020 based systems running Microware's OS9 operating system. We'd also ported a Xwindows based gui called Gwindows to those systems. Since our primary market was business (in particular, multi-user applications like point of sales systems) and embedded application, in wouldn't say were really in competition with the Amiga (which was a single user system with a strong focus on games and multimedia based applications).
Since then, I've done LOTS of different things (including training in culinary arts, as I currently work as a Sous Chef).
Hey, as long as your enjoying it...I'd hate to go to work to a job I hated. |

Well, Japanese mainly interests me, I might pursue a career in it, but I might also pursue a minor in education (you'll be able to get a teachers degree, which is always handy) and become high school teacher.
My big dream however is to be able to start a brewery, but that requires capital I currently don't have.
And lots of my money will probably go to computers |

| After having worked at servicing Fire equipment then dental equipment I moved on to auto electrical, Installing phones, stereos and alarms. I was then head hunted for a job in home automation that led to automatic gates and access controls witch I still do today working as a manufacturers tech support representative.

| I started as an industrial technician, mostly supporting the electrical/electronic equipment in typical production environments. I went on to industrial robotics, working as an instructor for a manufacturer, then spending the next decade or so training and supervising a small team of programmers. Most recently back into industrial controls, this time working with PLCs and HMIs. No robots at this place, but lots of work to do anyway. _________________ question=(2b||!(2b)) |

Even without teaching certification you can apply for an adjunct professor position at a college or university. I've been thinking about teaching myself, but the added course work needed for teaching certification seems like a burden (and frankly I was never that impressed with many of the school teachers I've had in the past that had it). So I'm thinking about a path in higher education that doesn't require it myself.
BTW - I think its cool that you are studying something you're into. Personally, if my thing was languages, I'd be studying Chinese. After all, that country has become a real economic powerhouse. |

I'd rather pursue a high school teaching career, especially in Belgium. With a university degree in the right courses and a teaching certificate, you can give lessons to the higher years, which is to me the most interesting AND the best paying. Assistant positions to professors are payed rather poorly here thanks to eh infamous Envelope. The Envelope contains all funds the government give to public higher education institutions and it's been stagnant for over a decade while the amount of students keep rising, and the amount of assistants keep growing (due to publication pressure on professors which prohibit many of them from teaching full courses themselves).
The Chinese language faculty is also quite popular here (just a tad smaller as Japanese studies). |

"And now for something completely different..." (said in my best Rocky the Flying Squirrel voice impersonation)
I'm in my 36th year working as a pastor in a biblically conservative Lutheran church.
I bought my first shiny new A1000 back when they were fresh on the market. I have also forayed into all things related to Studebaker cars and trucks as a hobby, but am currently trying to sell my Studebaker to pay for a new X5000. Maybe by the time I sell the car the quad core X5000 and OS4.2 will be out.

Just curious. Is your church part of any larger denomination or does it stand alone for the most part? |
