| Isn't there supposed to be an OS update before Christmas? It's getting close. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

Well only trace of promise is that X1000 was supposed to be shipped before New Year with Amiga OS 4.1.5 if I remember correctly and that beta testers are already running OS 4.1.4.
As said, as soon as bugs are fixed it will be public for sure.
With OS 4.1.5 OS 4.1 support should end, just like OS 4.0 did and wait for OS 4.2 with new features should begin.
Hyperion Blog mentions both, Update 4 as being worked and Update 5 as start point for extending beta testers. Last edited by vox on 17-Dec-2011 at 05:16 PM.

shouldn't be too long now as others have said but then again, delays do happen.

In the past, updates have come just before and just after. You never know what Santa Amiga might bring... _________________

I think you DO NOT remember correctly.
Note that there is a BIG difference between a casual comment from (say) Trevor saying they are "hoping" or "aiming" to ship by Xmas, and an official promise that it *will* ship by Xmas. I am pretty sure we have NOT seen the latter (although we might have seen the former).

This is the sort of thread that Realize would start. (Who isn't an actual OS4 user, as you know.)
Ah, no, sorry, my apologies. His thread title would have been something like "Where is Update 4?? Why NO NEWS? IS OS4 DOOMED?!?" (slightly exaggerated) or like "Where the @#&@(!& is Update 4 ???" (sadly NOT exaggerated) or like "WHERE IS UPDATE 4 ????" (not exaggerated either) or simply just "Where is Hyperion? Why no OS4 news?????".
Personally speaking, I'd like to see those kinds of hysterical/inflamatory thread titles banned. All of them *could* have been stated in perfectly calm & polite ways.Last edited by ChrisH on 18-Dec-2011 at 10:44 AM. Last edited by ChrisH on 18-Dec-2011 at 10:15 AM. | How has such a harmless question become the basis for another round of pointless petty sniping?
I have to ask myself... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5cX_ncZLls

Because people are tired and oversensitive from previous rounds of sniping.
In answer to the original poster, Christas is ages away, I haven't even started Christmas shoping yet .... so don't panick. And if it doesn't make the first day remeber christmas has 12 days some of which are quite dull, so a slightly late arriving update willease your holiday boredom

to my knowledge no one from the development team, let alone hyperion, have stated that update 4 would be available on any specific date. are you perhaps confusing it with morphOS v3.0 which was scheduled to ship by the end of the year? i think that has slipped, actually, but as for OS4, unfortunately no news on when update 4 will be out.
of course if steven wants to chime in here, we'd love to find out what's coming.
